Farewell open house for Justine Jackovich

Student Life will host an open house to say goodbye to Justine Jackovich, assistant director of residential life, on Friday, May 17, from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Student Life Office. Stop by and wish her well in the next exciting chapter in her life.

The Higher Learning Commission will send a visit team to campus May 20-21 to evaluate the college’s change requests related to the leadership post-baccalaureate program, the online ESL endorsement and allowing us to offer programs by distance delivery. Unlike the comprehensive visit we had in 2017, this visit team will focus just on the change requests we submitted. Members of the campus community involved with the visit will meet with the team May 20.

20th annual Golden Knight Awards

Voting is open May 13-17 for the 20th annual Golden Knight Awards. All Wartburg students are eligible to vote starting today at this link. The Golden Knight Awards will be Monday, May 20, at 7 p.m. in Neumann Auditorium. Wear your Sunday best and join us for an evening to celebrate the achievements of the 2018-19 seasons!

Recyclemania competition results

This year, in the nationwide Recyclemania Competition, Wartburg placed 129th out of 159 schools with a diversion rate of 21.249%. Wartburg placed slightly higher in the Food Organics category, finishing 109th out of 148 competing schools. This is a 10 percentage point increase from last year (11.41% diversion rate). While we have improved significantly, this still means that only 21 percent of waste on campus is recycled or composted. We can do better! Pathways career closet accepting business clothing donations

The Wartburg Pathways Center will open a career closet for current students. Students may take clothing, free of charge, to be worn for professional settings such as job interviews and class presentations. Pathways needs help from Wartburg students, faculty, and staff in collecting business casual and business formal clothing and accessories. Donations will be collected during May Term. Black donation boxes are located in each of the office suites of the academic departments on campus, the WRSL, The W (coaches offices), and Pathways Center.

Wartburg Student Senate will host the third annual Burgapalooza grill-out on the sand volleyball courts behind the Manors on Tuesday, May 14, 4-8 p.m. Grab your friends and head over for some FREE Dilly Bars, burgers, hot dogs, yard games, and beach volleyball! S.A.F.E. Color Run 5K on May 18

S.A.F.E (Suicide Awareness For Everyone) is hosting its fourth annual Stampede the Stigma color run on Saturday, May 18. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the race will begin at 10 a.m. The rain date is scheduled for Sunday, May 19, at 11 a.m. Don't want to run or walk? Volunteers are needed! End-of-year shuttle rides

The end of year student shuttles will be departing for Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, Chicago, Minneapolis and Des Moines on Friday, May 24. Remember to sign up before May 17 to guarantee your spot.
