Higher Learning Commission to visit Wartburg
|
The Higher Learning Commission will send a visit team to campus May 20-21 to evaluate the college’s change requests related to the leadership post-baccalaureate program, the online ESL endorsement and allowing us to offer programs by distance delivery. Unlike the comprehensive visit we had in 2017, this visit team will focus just on the change requests we submitted. Members of the campus community involved with the visit will meet with the team May 20.

Recyclemania competition results
|
This year, in the nationwide Recyclemania Competition, Wartburg placed 129th out of 159 schools with a diversion rate of 21.249%. Wartburg placed slightly higher in the Food Organics category, finishing 109th out of 148 competing schools. This is a 10 percentage point increase from last year (11.41% diversion rate). While we have improved significantly, this still means that only 21 percent of waste on campus is recycled or composted. We can do better! For more information about how to recycle on campus, click here or contact sustainability@wartburg.edu.

Reminders from the Business Office
|
The last business day of the 2018-19 fiscal year is Thursday, May 31. Here are some of the year-end cut-off dates, which are in place to help ensure the audited financial statements are completed in a timely and accurate manner:
• |
Tuesday, June 11 — If you use a PNC VISA card, the May 2019 statement review period begins Saturday, June 1, and is available through Tuesday, June 11. All transactions will be dated May 2019 and would normally be charged to the 2018-19 budget. If any transactions relate to the 2019-20 budget year, contact Kristi Ladage or Tracy Rucker for instructions on proper reclassification. All receipts must uploaded and/or turned in to the Business Office no later than June 11. |
• |
Wednesday, June 12 — All invoices, travel expenses, etc., related to fiscal year 2018-19 must be turned into the Business Office. Expenses intended for 2018-19 that are NOT turned in by this date, may be charged against the 2019-20 budget. Similar to other years, items purchased during a fiscal year must be used during that fiscal year. Expenses should be charged to the year in which they relate & may or may not be the year in which they relate and may or may not be the year in which the item was paid. For example, if an individual submits a check request in May for a conference scheduled for July 2019, the expense should be charged to the 2019-20 budget. To ensure accurate reporting, all invoices submitted for payment through June 12, should have the year to be charged identified on the check request form. |
• |
Friday, June 21 — Budget reports, as well as agency and restricted accounts, are available for 2018-19 for all account managers. Please review the detail transactions and contact Kristi Ladage or Carolyn Hughes with any adjustments or questions. All expenses related to the 2018-19 fiscal year should be recorded and reflected on your budget report by Friday, June 14. You will have until Friday, June 21, to inform us of any changes or adjustments. After June 21, we will no longer make adjustments to the 2018-19 accounts, as we need to close the books to complete the annual audit. |
