On-campus vaccine clinic on April 16

The college has secured another 300 doses of the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) single-dose COVID vaccine (approved for those 18 and older) for members of the Wartburg community on Friday, April 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The vaccines will be administered by HyVee in Levick Arena (enter the building on the campus side and proceed up the stairs to the Levick Arena concourse where additional signage and volunteers will guide you through the process). Pre-registration is required.

HyVee recommends that students who live outside of Iowa use their Wartburg College address (100 Wartburg Blvd., Waverly, IA, 50677) as their address. An insurance card IS NOT required to obtain this vaccine. All individuals must wait in the arena at least 15 minutes after receiving the vaccine, so please plan accordingly. This clinic is meant for the Wartburg faculty, staff, and students only. Please do not share this link with others. If you have questions, email covidresponse@wartburg.edu.

Get your 'Pod Squad' ready for Large Group event

ETK is excited to announce that our Large Event artist coming to campus on May 6 is Eli Young Band!

The concert will be held outside at the field south of Wartburg Chapel and will have pod-style seating. Tickets are FREE to current Wartburg students and will be available starting later today, April 12, via email.

Students will sign up in groups of 4-8, with each pod being six feet apart from other pods during the concert. One member will reserve their pod on behalf of other members, similar to the housing lottery (gather your pod's Wartburg email addresses and ID numbers now). If you do not have a pod group, students can also reserve an individual spot. Masks must be worn by all during the concert. #EYBatWC21

Become a Faith in the Vaccine ambassador

A select cohort of Wartburg College student leaders will work in their home and/or chosen communities, particularly faith communities, throughout the summer months to advocate for and educate about the COVID vaccine. Vaccine hesitancy remains an issue in many places, for many reasons, and we need you to leverage your existing connections to spread faith in the vaccine. If you are interested in earning $1,500 for your service and leadership in this bridge-building role, contact Dr. Caryn Riswold as soon as possible for more information about this opportunity, funded and offered in partnership with the Interfaith Youth Core. Participate in student study: The Effects of Color on Memory for Text

Help us research techniques that have potential to improve studying! In this study you will read a short nonfiction passage, complete multiplication problems, and then you will be asked to recall what you remember from the passage. Then, you will repeat this process two more times with two additional passages. This study will take you about 60 minutes to complete. To participate, please go to wartburg.sona-sytems.com and look for “The Effect of Color on Memory for Text (Mayne).” If you have any questions, please contact Kendall Mayne.

Are you fully vaccinated against COVID-19?

If you have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, please send a photo or scan of your vaccination card to covidresponse@wartburg.edu so that it can be placed on file. Individuals who provide proof of full vaccination would not be required to quarantine if they were deemed exposed to COVID.

What to do if you have COVID-19 symptoms

Students who are experiencing symptoms should not engage in any campus activities and should contact Noah Campus Health Clinic immediately at 319-352-8436. Students also should contact Cassie Hales (319-352-8260 or cassie.hales@wartburg.edu) to enact a self-isolation or quarantine protocol (e.g. meal delivery, notification of faculty, and contact tracing).
