Regents approve naming of Wuertz Health and Human Performance Center

On Friday, May 22, the Board of Regents approved the naming of the Wuertz Health & Human Performance Center in honor of Elizabeth (Liz) and John Wuertz. Approval came after the college received a $1 million gift commitment from Regent Mike Murphy ’89, who was positively impacted by the Wuertzes. Click here to learn more about this project.

Construction is expected to begin as early as Tuesday, May 26, when contractors will begin:

Erecting a barrier fence around the project area.
Putting down gravel to create a temporary access point from the small Vogel Library parking lot to the construction site. This will necessitate the removal of non-handicap parking spaces in that lot. The two handicap spaces will remain open throughout the construction process.
Limiting parking on 11th Street to ensure adequate space for large trucks to enter and leave the construction site. Construction workers will be asked to park in L Lot, south of The W. Parking is not allowed in the equipment area next to the fieldhouse overhead door. This is part of the project work area.

Once the barrier fence has been erected, it is imperative that faculty, staff, and students do not enter the construction area. All interaction with the contractors should be limited; questions and concerns about the project should be directed to Scott Sharar, project manager. Photos of the project are not to be taken without the express permission of Woodruff Construction and Wartburg College. Woodruff Construction and its subcontractors will follow their own COVID-19 protocol, which may or may not align with those used by Wartburg College.

Summer hours begin May 24

Summer office hours begin Sunday, May 24, and go through Saturday, Aug. 22. Office hours during this time will be from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
