Graven Award presentation set for 11:30

Composer Craig Hella Johnson will receive the Graven Award at 11:30 a.m. today in Wartburg Chapel. The Graven Award recognizes laypeople who are guided by a strong sense of Christian calling to serve their communities. Johnson founded the Texas-based professional choir Conspirare and serves as the group's artistic director.

Johnson will discuss his well-known concert-length work "Considering Matthew Shepard" at a panel and Q&A at 8:15 p.m. in Orchestra Hall. The composition tells the story of Matthew Shepard, who was murdered because he was gay. This event is presented by Alliance.

MSCP seminar postponed

Today's planned MSCP Department Seminar, "Probabilities on a Poker Run" by Dr. Brian Birgen, has been pushed back by a week. The event will now take place at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Science Center 134. Email ben.bousquet@wartburg.edu with questions.

Correction: Science of Love event is Feb. 15

NSTA's Valentine's Day event, Science of Love, will take place on Feb. 15, not Feb. 14 as listed in yesterday's Juice. To volunteer to assist with science activities for pre-K to fifth grade students, email emma.true@wartburg.edu.
