Professional photos to be taken Thursday

Julie Drewes, visual media manager, will hold studio time from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 28, in FAC 52 for faculty or staff who wish to have a new studio portrait taken. You must email julie.drewes@wartburg.edu to set up a time in that window, as several slots are already taken.

 

Directions to the photo studio in FAC 52:

Enter the main lobby of the Bachman Fine Arts Center via the east entrance (windows side, facing the Chapel).
On the right, take the staircase down to the basement.
Turn right, follow the long hallway about halfway and turn left (fire extinguisher on the wall for reference).
The studio is the first door on the right.
Reserve parking for vistors during Worth It Week

Admissions would like your help creating a welcoming environment for prospective students and their families during Worth It Week, July 31 to Aug. 5. Please observe the following parking restrictions near the campus entrance:

 

Monday, Aug. 1: South row of E Lot, morning only
Tuesday, Aug. 2: South row of E Lot, afternoon only
Wednesday, Aug. 3: South row of E Lot, morning only
Friday, Aug. 5: South and middle rows of E Lot, morning only
Performance appraisals due July 31
All full-time employees must submit a performance appraisal by Sunday, July 31. Appraisal templates can be found on the Info Center under forms. Once completed and signed by all parties, please drop these forms off at the Human Resources office, LH 203, or email them to HR@wartburg.edu.
ITS announces new data security policy
In order to improve data security measures at Wartburg, a new Data Security Policy has been created and approved regarding the use and storage of institutional data. All data must be stored in a location that can be supported by ITS staff. ITS will engage with faculty and staff to find solutions for any data storage needs while enforcing this policy.

Accomplishments and achievements
Dr. Kuni Terasawa, associate professor of religion, presented “Future of Asia’s Peace and Interreligious Dialogue and Cooperation” at the International Association of Religious Freedom in Tokyo on July 18. He also presented “The Meaning and Activities of Interreligious Dialogue in the Context of Local and World” during a July 20-21 commemoration of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami by the Federation of New Religious Organizations of Japan and the Buddhist churches of Iwate prefecture.

Join Lunchtime Yoga outside on Wednesdays
To promote wellness on campus, The W will offer free half-hour outdoor yoga sessions at 12:20 p.m. each Wednesday through August, weather permitting. Yoga mats will be available for those who need one, though you may bring your own.
May board reports now available
The president's May Report to the Board and Report to Campus are now posted in President's Reports on Info Center.
Accomplishments and achievements
Dr. Michael Gleason, the Irving R. Burling Distinguished Professor in Leadership, moderated a panel titled "The Future of Graduate Leadership Education: An Exploration of Curriculum and Faculty Support to Meet the Needs of a Complex Society" at the Association of Leadership Educators Conference in Kansas City, Mo. The panel focused on several themes emerging within an upcoming edition of New Directions for Student Leadership, for which Gleason serves as issue co-editor.
Dr. Murad Mahmoud, assistant professor in engineering; Dr. Cristian Allen, assistant professor in mathematics; and students Samuel Bast, Trinity Borland, Jack Priske, and Britta Solheim presented their work during the American Society for Engineering Education annual conference in Minneapolis. The two papers they presented were "The Effect of Summer Engineering Camps on Students’ Interest in STEM Based on Their Age" and "The Effect of Summer Engineering Camps on Rural and Urban Students’ Interest in STEM."
