Join Lunchtime Yoga outside on Wednesdays
To promote wellness on campus, The W will offer free half-hour outdoor yoga sessions at 12:20 p.m. each Wednesday through August, weather permitting. Yoga mats will be available for those who need one, though you may bring your own.
May board reports now available
The president's May Report to the Board and Report to Campus are now posted in President's Reports on Info Center.

CONDOLENCES

Our condolences to the family and friends of Russell Westmeyer, who died Thursday at age 87. He is survived by his wife, Betty, and his daughter, Andrea '89, a member of the Board of Regents. Services will be held Tuesday, July 12, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Waverly. See his full obituary.

Accomplishments and achievements
Dr. Michael Gleason, the Irving R. Burling Distinguished Professor in Leadership, moderated a panel titled "The Future of Graduate Leadership Education: An Exploration of Curriculum and Faculty Support to Meet the Needs of a Complex Society" at the Association of Leadership Educators Conference in Kansas City, Mo. The panel focused on several themes emerging within an upcoming edition of New Directions for Student Leadership, for which Gleason serves as issue co-editor.
Dr. Murad Mahmoud, assistant professor in engineering; Dr. Cristian Allen, assistant professor in mathematics; and students Samuel Bast, Trinity Borland, Jack Priske, and Britta Solheim presented their work during the American Society for Engineering Education annual conference in Minneapolis. The two papers they presented were "The Effect of Summer Engineering Camps on Students’ Interest in STEM Based on Their Age" and "The Effect of Summer Engineering Camps on Rural and Urban Students’ Interest in STEM."

Dr. Lee, professor emeritus of music, dies at 93

We're saddened to hear about the death of Dr. Robert Lee, professor emeritus of music, on Friday.

 

Dr. Lee served for 36 years as director of the Wartburg College Band, retiring in 1995. He founded the Knightliters Jazz Band in 1959 and directed the Wartburg Community Symphony from 1959 to 1964. Dr. Lee received the Wartburg Medal in 2018.

 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, in Wartburg Chapel. See Dr. Lee's obituary.

Accomplishments and achievements
Dr. Caryn D. Riswold, professor of religion and the Mike and Marge McCoy Family Distinguished Chair in Lutheran Heritage and Mission, recently authored a chapter, "Already Freed, Christians Should Serve (Cake): Religious Freedom Claims and Christian Privilege," for the new book "The Crux of Theology: Luther's Teachings and Our Work for Freedom, Justice, and Peace," edited by Allen Jorgenson and Kristen Kvam and published in May 2022 by Lexington Books/Fortress Academic.
