Wartburg Players presents 'Peter/Wendy' Nov. 12 & 13issing table ban

“Peter/Wendy” is an adaptation of the story of Peter Pan and pays homage to the darker themes of J. M. Barrie's original story of the boy who never grew up. “Peter/Wendy” strips the familiar story down to its emotional essence. Peter lures Wendy away from her home to join him in Neverland. The pair, joined by Tinkerbell, Tiger Lily and the Lost Boys, face adventures and run-ins with Captain Hook and Smee. The play will mesmerize audiences of all ages. Show dates are Friday, Nov. 12, and Saturday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in McCaskey Lyceum. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are sold only at the door: $10 general admission, Wartburg students free with student ID.

James Leach Chair Lecture on Tuesdayervice trip advisers needed

The Department of Business, Accounting and Economics will host its inaugural James Leach Chair Lecture Series this Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 11:30 a.m via Zoom. Dr. Samuel Schulhofer-Wohl, senior vice president and director of Financial Policy and Outreach at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, will speak about "Central Banking, on average and in detail." He plans to discuss how the Fed’s work on the national economy considers local communities’ experiences and the substantial individual variation underlying aggregate economic statistics – including, for example, his work on inflation at the household level. The lecture series will occur twice every academic year, is open to faculty and students, and is presented by scholars from both the public and private sector in the field of economics.

SAFE Day of Remembrance on Thursday
|
On Thursday, Nov. 11, SAFE will host a Day of Remembrance in honor of those who have died from suicide. Wear black on that day to honor the people who are impacted by suicide. There will also be a stress-free zone available at 7 p.m. Thursday in GRO 131 with games and coloring to give time to debrief. Throughout the week, there will be flags in front of Old Main representing the 130 people in the U.S. who die from suicide each day. If you have any questions, please email safe@wartburg.edu.

Counseling Services and Student Life will be recognizing World Kindness Day. Here are ways to promote kindness: send an uplifting text to a friend, treat someone to a cup of coffee, say “thank you,” go outside your comfort zone and share a compliment with someone. Math, Computer Science & Physics Seminar on Tuesday

The next Math, Computer Science & Physics (MCSP) Department Seminar will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 11:30 a.m. in room 134 of the Science Center. Brandon Bloebaum (4Y Actuarial Science major) will speak about his Summer 2021 experiences as an actuarial intern at Northwestern Mutual. He will discuss the COVID-19 corporate work environment, the technical skills he used in his pricing analyses, and his project development on the annuity pricing team. All are invited to hear his presentation, entitled "Annuity Pricing with Northwestern Mutual." Masks are required.

Dining Services is currently conducting an online Customer Satisfaction Survey. Information was sent in an email last week including a link to the survey, and a reminder will be sent this week. We are seeking feedback from students, faculty, and staff on several topics including quality, variety, and taste of food, as well as rating service, cleanliness, and 21 other attributes. You can provide feedback for one or multiple locations including the Den, Konditorei, Zesty Orange, and Mensa. Please be as specific as possible when adding suggestions for improvement to improve the chances of accurately implementing recommended changes. Weekday Chapel services are from 10:15 to 10:35 a.m. each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in Wartburg Chapel. Chapel time is a brief opportunity to gather with students, staff, and faculty to reflect on God and faith. Mondays will feature faculty and staff faith stories and blessings, Wednesdays will be a morning prayer service, and Fridays will have Senior Chapels. Interfaith chapels will be held during the last week each month.

Passport renewals and applications are taking at least five months to process, and the U.S. State Department recommends that a passport be valid as least six months AFTER the expected date of return AND have at least two blank pages.
