Check your passport for international travelervice trip advisers needed

Is it possible that you will travel internationally this year? Check your passport now! Passport renewals and applications are taking at least five months to process, and the U.S. State Department recommends that a passport be valid as least six months AFTER the expected date of return AND have at least two blank pages. If you need to renew or apply, click here or contact the Recorder’s Office in the Bremer County Courthouse at 319-352-0340 for information and an appointment.

Election Day information to vote in Waverlyervice trip advisers needed
|
Tuesday, Nov. 2, is a local Election Day. Students who want to vote in Waverly’s City and School elections are reminded that:
1. Voters must have a photo ID that is current, valid and contains an expiration date (which means Wartburg IDs do not count).
2. Residence Hall students who live north of Fifth Avenue NW vote at Redeemer Lutheran Church (2001 W. Bremer Ave.) and students who live south of Fifth Avenue NW vote at the Fire Station (123 First St. SW).
3. Students who have moved since the last time they registered to vote need to bring proof of residency with them to vote on Tuesday. This would include an official letter from the college that they have a residence hall contract, which they can get during business hours in the Student Life office.

The final week of Cyber Security Awareness month is all about making security a priority. For those providing business services on campus, this means building security into products and processes. For individuals, keep cybersecurity at the forefront of your mind as you connect daily. Before purchasing a device or online product, do your research. When you set up a new device or app, consider your security and privacy settings and always update default passwords. Cybersecurity should not be an afterthought.

Weekday Chapel services are from 10:15 to 10:35 a.m. each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in Wartburg Chapel. Chapel time is a brief opportunity to gather with students, staff, and faculty to reflect on God and faith. Mondays will feature faculty and staff faith stories and blessings, Wednesdays will be a morning prayer service, and Fridays will have Senior Chapels. Interfaith chapels will be held during the last week each month.

New art exhibit: 'The Environment Calls for Action'
|
The new exhibit in the Waldemar A. Schmidt Art Gallery, “The Environment Calls for Action: Margaret Whiting and Renata Sack,” will run Oct. 25-Dec. 17. Global warming is a very real thing. Ocean waters are rising, wildfires are raging, and species of plants and animals are going extinct at an alarming rate. Artists Renata Sack and Margaret Whiting bring attention to the policies and practices in society that must be changed to preserve life and the earth. Through the use of photographs and mixed-media installations, the artists encourage viewers to comprehend the magnitude and urgency of the climate change crisis and draw conclusions to what desperately needs to be done to save the earth. The time to act is now—future generations depend on it.

Dr. Tyler Graff, assistant professor of psychology, is currently accepting applications for undergraduate research assistants for his Social Behavior Lab. About the lab: Dr. Graff’s program of research explores how social relationships impact our psychological and physiological health. He does this by investigating social support influences on health behaviors and via relationship quality. Dr. Graff primarily uses quantitative experimental and correlational research methods but also some qualitative methods.

2021-22 German Institute funding opportunityissing table ban
|
The Executive Committee of the German Institute is pleased to announce the 2021-22 call for applications to support activities/endeavors related to German and/or Germany. For 2021-22, a total of $2,000 is still available from external sources. An application is required and funds will be awarded on a competitive basis. Applications for the full amount of available funds will at this time most likely not be supported in full. Applications are due Nov. 5. Awards will be announced no later than Nov. 19. In the past, the Institute has funded enrichments to May Term trips to Germany, the German film festival, learning materials for the faculty/staff heritage tour, and subsidized student travel to Germany for study abroad.

Student assistants are paid $9.25 per hour, and student managers are paid $10 per hour.
