Updated summer hours for Dining Services

Please note the following updated hours for Dining Services locations. Office hours for Dining Services are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday on the first floor of Saemann Student Center.

 

The Den-Rittersaal

Open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

Takeout meals continue to be offered in the Den, and the dine-in option has returned with restrictions outlined by Governor Reynolds in her most recent proclamation.

 

For students with a Board Plan, the following meal transfer options will be available in The Den:

Hot Meal Transfers, 10:30 a.m.-12:55 p.m.
Grab and Go Meal Transfers, 10:25 a.m.-12:55 p.m.

 

Zesty Orange

Open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

 

Mensa

Currently closed, with special hours for camps and conferences.

 

Konditorei

Currently closed, but opening Monday, Aug. 3, 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.

 

Mail Center update

Mail Center hours will switch to 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. starting Monday, Aug. 10. Please email mailroom@wartburg.edu to check your forwarding address or with other questions.

 

STAS meetings for fall

STAS (Sharing Teaching and Advising Strategies) will continue meeting on Zoom in the fall semester. If you are already on the list, you will receive links for the those meetings. If you would like to join your peers for discussing teaching and advising — or have questions — contact Michaeleen Golay or Kristin Wendland. Dates for Fall Term 2020 will be the following Wednesdays at 3:45 p.m.: Sept. 9 and 23, Oct. 7 and 21, and Nov. 4 and 18.

 

Softball youth camps in August

The Wartburg softball team will be hosting youth camps Aug. 4 and 5. There will be defensive sessions by position along with offensive sessions, for grades 3-7 and grades 8-12. We will have guidelines in place to make it a fun and safe camp experience. Go to www.wartburgsoftballcamps.com to see guidelines, get more details, and to register!

Involvement Fair details

The 2020-21 Involvement Fair will take place Tuesday, Aug. 25, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the Campus Mall (the evening before fall classes begin). More information about the Involvement Fair and registration can be found at this link. To ensure there are enough tables for the organizations participating, please register your organization using the link above no later than Friday, Aug. 21. Questions? CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to the Rev. Dr. Kristin Wendland, associate professor of religion, on her marriage to Matt Dittmer on July 11.

 

PROFESSIONAL NEWS

Dr. Michael Gleason, the Irving R. Burling Distinguished Professor in Leadership, co-authored an article titled “Mentoring students in high-stakes roles: Lessons from the Leadership Challenge Event” in the "Pause for Pedagogy" section of Interface: The newsletter of the International Leadership Association.

 

Wartburg faculty Dr. Kelly Faga, Dr. Mike Bechtel, Dr. Maryam Rod Szabo and Dr. Stephanie TeKippe have published an article, "The 3CM Approach: A Pedagogy Based in Theory and Experience to Move beyond the 'What' into the 'How' toward a Pathway of Lifelong Learning and Teaching," in The International Journal of Pedagogy and Curriculum. The study explored teacher perceptions of strategies being utilized in schools, teacher training, professional development, strengths and weaknesses, and impact, with the aim of discovering a pathway of teacher development for life-long learning and effective teaching.
