GET not available Monday; Mensa open July 20-23

GET will not be available Monday, July 20, due to kitchen maintenance. Mensa will be open for limited hours with a limited menu this week to serve athletics camp participants. If you have a summer board plan, you are welcome to eat in Mensa during these times. Faculty, staff and visitors may also pay the meal rate to eat in Mensa:

 

Monday, July 20

Breakfast: 7:30 – 8 a.m.
Lunch: 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Dinner: 5:45 – 6:15 p.m.

 

Tuesday, July 21

Breakfast 7:30 – 8 a.m.
Lunch 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Dinner 5:45 – 6:15 p.m.

 

Wednesday, July 22

Breakfast: 9 – 9:30 a.m. (cold breakfast only)
Lunch: 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Dinner: 5:45 – 6:15 p.m.

 

Thursday, July 23

Breakfast: 7:30 – 8 a.m.
Lunch: 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

 

Mensa will be closed the rest of the week. Please note, face masks are required to be worn in Mensa until diners are seated to eat. Seating has been rearranged to allow for more physical distancing between tables.

 

Involvement Fair details

The 2020-21 Involvement Fair will take place Tuesday, Aug. 25, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the Campus Mall (the evening before fall classes begin). More information about the Involvement Fair and registration can be found at this link. To ensure there are enough tables for the organizations participating, please register your organization using the link above no later than Friday, Aug. 21. Questions? PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS
ITS upgrades on Thursday

Wartburg's ITS will be doing an upgrade for the firewall, core switch and Nexus bundle on Thursday, July 23, beginning at 4 p.m. The project is expected to take two to four hours. Users will experience intermittent internet and network connectivity. Services impacted will be internet connectivity, InfoCenter, my.wartburg.edu, telephones and local network connectivity.

 

Ballrooms used for student dining

Students begin returning to campus Aug. 9, and at that time both the Heritage and St. Elizabeth Rooms will be used exclusively for student dining as the space is necessary to allow for adequate social distancing. If you have any questions about this, please contact either Marty Johnson, director of dining services, or Jean Buckingham, interim events manager. If you have an event that is scheduled in either of these rooms during the Fall Term, please contact Jean to make other room arrangements.

PROFESSIONAL NEWS

Dr. Michael Gleason, the Irving R. Burling Distinguished Professor in Leadership, co-authored an article titled “Mentoring students in high-stakes roles: Lessons from the Leadership Challenge Event” in the "Pause for Pedagogy" section of Interface: The newsletter of the International Leadership Association.

 

Wartburg faculty Dr. Kelly Faga, Dr. Mike Bechtel, Dr. Maryam Rod Szabo and Dr. Stephanie TeKippe have published an article, "The 3CM Approach: A Pedagogy Based in Theory and Experience to Move beyond the 'What' into the 'How' toward a Pathway of Lifelong Learning and Teaching," in The International Journal of Pedagogy and Curriculum. The study explored teacher perceptions of strategies being utilized in schools, teacher training, professional development, strengths and weaknesses, and impact, with the aim of discovering a pathway of teacher development for life-long learning and effective teaching.
