Condolences to Elisa Holmes

The Wartburg community extends its condolences to Elisa Holmes, financial services and collections coordinator, on the loss of her mother, Everlena Holmes, who died June 16 in Iowa City. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, Waterloo, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Please click here to view the obituary.

The Zesty Orange has reopened in a limited capacity. Hours initially will be 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some food and bakery items will be available along with all beverages, including freshly brewed coffee and real fruit smoothies. Hours and food options will expand as traffic in The W increases.

Dr. Stephanie Toering Peters, the Dr. Richard L. and Sandra K. Wahl Professor in Biology, participated in the virtual 2020 Genomics Education Partnership Alumni Workshop and Meeting. The GEP develops curricula and provides infrastructure to involve undergraduates in bioinformatics research. Dr. Toering Peters is mentoring two students in bioinformatics research this summer.
Dr. Caryn Riswold, professor of religion and the Mike and Marge McCoy Family Distinguished Chair in Lutheran Heritage and Mission, wrote the chapter on “Women and Religion” in the Companion to Women’s and Gender Studies. The new textbook was edited by Nancy Naples and published in 2020 by Wiley Blackwell.
