Performance appraisals due soon

Please remember that performance appraisal forms are due no later than June 30. Performance appraisals are available on the InfoCenter under Employment > Forms and Procedures > Performance Appraisal Forms. Appraisals generally cover the working period of June 1, 2018, through May 31, 2019. Please note that all late and/or incomplete performance appraisals will result in a counseling session with the supervisor responsible and Human Resources. Documentation of the counseling session will be placed in personnel file and communicated with the appropriate cabinet member and/or supervisor.

The following are the requirements of a complete performance appraisal:

•	Performance appraisal must be complete and submitted on the most updated performance appraisal form. (Outdated performance appraisal forms will NOT be accepted).
•	Signatures AND dates of both the supervisor and employee must be present.
•	Appraisals (and self-appraisal, if completed) must be submitted on or before June 30, 2019.

Senior Pig Roast registration due today

Today is the deadline to register for the Senior Pig Roast! Faculty and staff are invited to join members of the Class of 2019 to celebrate their accomplishments at the Senior Pig Roast, hosted by the Alumni Office, on Thursday, May 23, at 6 p.m. in Walston-Hoover Stadium. Print Center updates on pricing, envelopes

The Wartburg Print Center has been notified by our online stationery provider that a $10 fee will be added to orders placed through Printorders.com when ordering envelopes through that system. Please only order business cards and letterhead through Printorders.com. Due to the college’s purchase of an envelope printer, all envelopes need be ordered through wartburg.webdeskprint.com. Also, Printorders.com has increased pricing for stationery items 6% across the board beginning June 1, except for photo business cards. Please contact Lori Poehler with questions.

Assessment workshop

On Tuesday, May 28, the Assessment Committee will host a workshop in the Heritage Ballroom from 10 to 11:30 a.m. to assist with completion of the June 15 Assessment Report. After a brief session of reminders and examples, committee members will be available to provide assistance as you work on your 2018-19 Assessment Report and 2019-20 Improvement Plan.

The Higher Learning Commission will send a visit team to campus May 20-21 to evaluate the college’s change requests related to the leadership post-baccalaureate program, the online ESL endorsement and allowing us to offer programs by distance delivery. Unlike the comprehensive visit we had in 2017, this visit team will focus just on the change requests we submitted. Members of the campus community involved with the visit will meet with the team May 20.

 

Summer hours begin May 28

Summer hours for staff will begin Tuesday, May 28, and end Friday, Aug. 23. Wartburg office hours during this time will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

Recyclemania competition results

This year, in the nationwide Recyclemania Competition, Wartburg placed 129th out of 159 schools with a diversion rate of 21.249%. Wartburg placed slightly higher in the Food Organics category, finishing 109th out of 148 competing schools. This is a 10 percentage point increase from last year (11.41% diversion rate). While we have improved significantly, this still means that only 21 percent of waste on campus is recycled or composted. We can do better! Business clothing needed for Pathways career closet

The Wartburg Pathways Center will open a career closet for current students. Students may take clothing, free of charge, to be worn for professional settings such as job interviews and class presentations. Pathways needs help from Wartburg students, faculty, and staff in collecting business casual and business formal clothing and accessories. Donations will be collected during May Term. Black donation boxes are located in each of the office suites of the academic departments on campus, the WRSL, The W (coaches offices), and Pathways Center.

 

Juice publishing schedule for summer

Please make note of the Juice email publishing schedule through the end of the academic year:

•	The final weekly Juice of the term will be May 20.
•	The Juice will publish intermittently through the summer as needed, about every other week for the Faculty/Staff edition.
•	Weekly Juice emails will begin again Monday, Aug. 26, just before the start of Fall Term.
