NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS
May Term mail reminder — For anyone leaving for May Term and either will be graduating or will not be back for May Term: Make sure you contact the Mail Center and tell us if you will not be back on campus. Please clean out your box before you leave. Most letters can be forwarded along with magazines for which you have a paid subscription. Magazines can only be forwarded for two months, so if you want to continue receiving them you will need to contact the companies. Packages that arrive for you can only be forwarded if they are sent by the Postal Service, but UPS or FedEx packages can only be returned to the sender. Please stop by and sign our sheet if you will not be returning to campus after Tour Week. All forwarding mail will be sent to your home address if you are not on campus.
Retirement open house — An open house to honor Ann Henninger, Jo Foster, Mary Peters, and Julie Paladino upon their retirement will be Thursday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Castle Room of Saemann Student Center.
Phil and Lit Society – The next Winter Term meeting of the Wartburg Philosophical and Literary Society is Friday, April 8, at 4 p.m. in McCoy West of the Saemann Student Center. Cara Donels '16, a biology major, will present The Global Context of Healthcare Spending in the United States. Madalynn McKelvey '17, an engineering science major, will present Vibration Physics: Models and Applications. The society meets most Friday afternoons during the academic year for presentations by a colleague in an informal, convivial setting. Beverages and snacks are available.
Staff Appreciation Reception — All are invited to attend the Staff Appreciation Reception honoring Jean Buckingham and Lori Backer for their hard work and dedication to Wartburg. This come-and-go event will be Tuesday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Castle Room. There will be snacks and refreshments provided. Contact senate@wartburg.edu with any questions.

Pickle ball tournament — The W will host a doubles pickleball tournament for students, faculty, and staff during May Term. Any combination of co-ed teams is allowed. Teams will be put into pools for round-robin play, with dates TBD once pools are set. Equipment is provided. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. Sign up by April 15 at the front desk of The W or online at www.the-w.org; fee is $10 per team. Contact Kyle Kregel with questions.
KWAR staff applications — KWAR Your Sound 89.9, the Wartburg student-run campus radio station, is accepting staff applications for the 2016-17 school year. You can apply for salaried positions in programming, sports, production, music, news, and social media. Become part of an award-winning staff and build your professional portfolio. Applications are available in the Journalism & Communication office in the McElroy Center and will be accepted until noon Friday, April 8. Interviews will be conducted April 11-13. Trumpet staff applications — The Wartburg Trumpet is seeking applicants for editing positions for the 2016-17 school year. With News, Sports, Knightlife, and Opinion/Editorial openings, students on the editorial staff will be able to learn how to write and edit stories. The Trumpet has a photography and graphic design position open as well. Not quite ready to jump in yet? Talk to us and try writing a story for one of the pages. The hands-on experience will not only look good on resume, but also help improve your writing skills. For more information, contact Ellyn Felton.

Hiking trip — Eight spots remain for a Wartburg Outdoor Recreation hiking trip through national parks in Utah and Colorado April 17-22. The trip is being promoted by EARTH Club. A pre-trip meeting is scheduled for Friday, April 8. The $400 registration fee will cover the cost of traveling, campground fees, rental equipment and other camping essentials. Anne Duncan, Wartburg’s environmental sustainability coordinator, will lead the group. For details, contact Alec Matthew or EARTH Club.
Musical Auditions for 2016-17 — Auditions for next year's musical will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. April 5 in Liemohn Choral Hall. Preference will be given to those who audition using material from the following works: The Gondoliers (Gilbert & Sullivan), A Little Night Music (Sondheim), My Fair Lady, Carousel, and Guys & Dolls. Sign up for an appointment in advance on the door of FAC 202 or drop by either audition night. An accompanist will be provided. Stress-free Zone — Wartburg Suicide Awareness for Everyone (SAFE) and Counseling Services will hold a "Stress-free Zone" on Monday, April 11, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the campus mall. This event will include outdoor activities and root beer floats. Rain location is in Chapel Commons. If you have a pet you would be willing to bring for students to play with during part of that time, please email kaitlyn.behnken@wartburg.edu.
Library Student Advisory Board — The Library Student Advisory Board is looking for students to join the board who are passionate about the effectiveness of the library and making the improvements to best suit students. The group meets about once a month. If interested, contact blake.shipman@wartburg.edu.
Submissions for Knightline — Send in your news/events for the next edition of Knightline, our monthly e-newsletter that goes out to Wartburg alumni, parents and friends. The April edition will be going out on Thursday, April 7. Please complete the “Knightline Submission Form” (click here) by the end of the day Monday, April 4, or contact Steph Boeding with questions.
Knight Vision Sports openings — Knight Vision Sports is looking for students to be on our team for the 2016-17 academic year. Job duties include but are not limited to: camera operator, game-day graphics, technical director, play-by-play and color commentating, sports media marketing, on-air reporting, and highlight shooting and editing. We will train hardworking individuals who want to learn more. These are paid positions with an average of 20 hours of work per week; the positions are open to all majors on campus.
