The Juice changes delivery — As of Monday, Oct. 19, The Juice will be sent only on Mondays. Please keep this change in mind when submitting announcements. The deadline for submissions throughjuice@wartburg.edu is 4 p.m. Thursday. As always, news items will be posted to the InfoCenter on a continual basis.

The Castle submissions call —  Submit art, poetry, photographs, and short stories for The Castle, Wartburg's semi-annual literary magazine, through Monday, Nov. 3, atcastle@wartburg.edu. Three submissions will be accepted per person, per term. 

#LargeEvent15 rescheduled — Andy Grammer and Aaron Carter will perform at Wartburg Saturday, Jan. 9. Entertainment ToKnight's rescheduled 2015 Large Event (#LargeEvent15) will begin at 8 p.m. in Neumann Auditorium. Tickets purchased for the postponed date will be accepted. Students still needing tickets can purchase them for $10 (with Wartburg ID, while quantities remain) at the Information Desk in Saemann Student Center at the following times:

• 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday through Friday, through Oct. 28
• 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Oct. 29 and Friday, Oct. 30
• 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday, Nov. 2 through Friday, Dec. 11

Refunds are available through Wednesday, Oct. 28 at the Information Desk. The paper ticket must be provided. The public can purchase tickets for $20, while quantities remain, at the Ticket Office or online. Please direct questions regarding ticketing toticket.office@wartburg.edu. Study abroad photo contest — Did you have an awesome study abroad or May Term experience that you want to share? Take part in the Study Abroad Programs Student Photo Contest! Submit a photo with a creative and descriptive title along with a 100-200 word essay describing your cross-cultural experience. Prizes will be awarded, and each photo and essay will be displayed outside The Den. Further rules and information can be found at the Study Abroad Programs Office in WBC 118 or online.  

Finding your voice — Dr. Celina Peerman, an organizational psychologist with Peerman Group, will present to students Tuesday, Oct. 27, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., in Knights Ballroom of Saemann Student Center. Her presentation, Finding Your Voice in a Noisy World: Connecting Work, Vocation & Our Daily Actions, will focus on daily choices we make in communicating and working better together.

Kleinfeld Lecture set for Oct. 22 — Udo Michallik will present The Unifications of Germany and Europe – 25 Years After. Beginning of a New World Order? for the annual Kleinfeld Lecture in German History, Culture, and Politics Thursday, Oct. 22, 7:30 p.m., in Saemann Student Center’s McCaskey Lyceum. He will address the transformation of Europe since 1989 and its significance to the U.S. Michallik is the secretary general of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the German States. At the event, the Gerald R. Kleinfeld Chair in German History will be bestowed upon Dr. Daniel Walther, professor of history. The position is being elevated to an endowed chair through an additional $500,000 commitment by Gerald Kleinfeld as part of the Transforming Tomorrow campaign. Click here for more information.

A Neumann debut — All are invited to a program unveiling Neumann Auditorium's new active acoustic system Monday, Oct. 19. The world debut of the first installation of Wenger Corporation's Transcend system will feature performances from Wartburg ensembles starting at 6 p.m.  

Interested in WWII? — Consider taking HI 260 History of World War II in May Term. This course includes hands-on exposure to artifacts from the conflict. Act quickly or the course may be dropped. Fall Piano Concert Series — Charles Schmidt, an assistant professor in music at Augustana (Illinois) College, will be the featured performer at the Fall Piano Concert Series Sunday, Oct. 18, 2 p.m., in Bachman Fine Arts Center’s Orchestra Hall. The concert will include selections by Franz Liszt and Robert Schumann. A reception will follow the free performance. The series concludes Sunday, Nov. 22, with Sean Botkin, associate professor of piano at the University of Northern Iowa. For more information, click here.

Real Men Sing festival Oct. 17 —  Vocal Point, Brigham Young University’s nine-man a cappella ensemble that captivated audiences on NBC’s The Sing-Off, will headline a concert on campus Friday, Oct. 16 as part of the Real Men Sing festival. Wartburg’s Festeburg, a student-led a cappella ensemble, will open the show at 7:30 p.m. in Neumann Auditorium. Tickets, which can be purchased at the door, are $10 for those with a student ID. 

Survey incentive — A random sample of students received an invitation from The Wartburg Store Oct. 13 to participate in a survey regarding options for purchasing course textbooks, materials, and technology. If you've received this invitation, please take a moment to respond. Submit your completed survey by Friday, Oct. 23 for a chance to win a cash prize of $1,000, a $50 gift card, or one of six $25 Wartburg Store gift cards. Consult your email invitation for details.

Refund checks — Those requesting refund checks the week of Fall Break should do so by noon on Monday, Oct. 26. Checks will be available for pick up in the Business Office Wednesday, Oct. 28. Phil and Lit — Dr. Kunihiko Terasawa, assistant professor of world religions, will present Religion, Nationalism, and WWII in the Asian context; the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII for the Wartburg Philosophical and Literary Society Friday, Oct. 16, 4 p.m., in McCoy West of Saemann Student Center. 

AAUW hosts pay inequity presentation — The Waverly branch of American Association of University Women will host Pay Inequity - It's a Fact: The Realities Behind Unequal Pay and Strategies for Achieving Equality today, Oct. 15, 6-7:30 p.m., in Whitehouse Business Center 116. Kristen Corey, program planner for the Iowa Department of Human Rights' Office on the Status of Women, will lead the presentation. Candlelight dinner — The new Sociology/Criminology Club will hold a candlelight dinner Wednesday, Oct. 21, 6:30 p.m., in the Heritage Room of Saemann Student Center. Club leaders will discuss goals and plans for the year. Sign up today, Oct. 15, in Mensa. The cost for students is a board meal plus $2, which can be paid through points, cash, or declining balance. Lilly Graduate Fellows nominations — Interested in teaching in a college of the church someday? Wartburg can nominate up to three individuals for the Lilly Graduate Fellows Program in Humanities and the Arts. Sixteen Fellows will be selected nationally to participate in a three-year mentoring program and to receive three annual $3,000 stipends for their graduate studies. Online humanities courses available — Wartburg is part of a consortium of colleges offering approximately 40 online courses at no charge. Have you found the Sustainability Office? — Free school supplies and environmental education are available in the Sustainability Office, located in Old Main. German Institute applications call — The executive committee of the German Institute is pleased to announce the 2016 call for applications to support activities/endeavors related to German and/or Germany. For 2016, $2,500 is available. Because these funds are limited, an application is required and will be awarded on a competitive basis. Applications for the full amount of available funds most likely will not be supported in full. Applications are due Nov. 6. Awards will be announced no later than Dec. 1. Previously, the institute has funded enhancements to May Term trips to Germany, a forthcoming film festival, and subsidized student travel to Germany for study abroad.
