Culture Week features special meals, Culture Show

Culture Week, presented by I-Club, begins today and runs through Saturday, May 7. Events throughout the week will celebrate different continents, and there will be a special meal each day. The week wraps up with the Culture Show at 5:30 p.m. May 7 in Neumann Auditorium.

Check mailboxes before end of May Term
Please check your mailbox before the end of the academic year to retrieve letters and other mail. Items that can’t be forwarded and are left in mailboxes after May 31 will be recycled or destroyed. More than 250 students haven’t checked their mailboxes since the start of the year. You can find your mailbox combination on My.Wartburg, and Mail Center staff are available to help you open your box and retrieve your lost bounty. Email mailroom@wartburg.edu with questions.
Wartburg Alert test set May 7
A Wartburg Alert test is scheduled Saturday, May 7. If you are not registered for Wartburg Alert, sign up today through the Information Center to receive emergency notifications.
May Term senators elected
The following students were elected to Student Senate in the recent voting:  
Alex Crawford
Michaela Dehli
Abby Denault
Leia Hagerman
Emma Huisman
Allegra Knudson
Cam Mears
Justin Stammer

They will serve through the 2022-23 academic year. During May Term, the Senate consists of these eight senators and the executive team members, and it will meet no less than twice during the term. Email ryleigh.parrack@wartburg.edu with any questions.

Apply for virtual conference on female leadership

The National Conference of College Women Student Leaders will be held May 24-26. The event  is completely online and features inspiring leaders like Nikole Hannah-Jones. The local chapter of the American Association of University Women and the Institute for Leadership Education will financially support participants who are committed to the experience. To apply, email michael.gleason@wartburg.edu and sheree.covert@wartburg.edu by Monday, May 9, and answer the following:

 

Why are you interested in this experience? How does it align with your future goals and objectives?
How will your participation help you enhance the Wartburg community?
How you will prioritize participation in the virtual conference during May Term?

 

Those chosen to attend will be asked to write a short summary of the experience and, if scheduling allows, present at a meeting of the AAUW.

Bible camp seeks summer employees
Hope Johnson, a representative from Green Lake Lutheran Ministries of Spicer, Minn., is recruiting for summer camp employment. Stop by Johnson’s table in the Saemann Student Center from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 5, for more information.

SPIRITUAL LIFE & CAMPUS MINISTRY

Sanctuary on Wednesdays

Sanctuary is a casual service that takes place Wednesday nights. All are welcome to relax and center themselves around God’s word in the midst of their busy weeks. Service begins at 9 p.m. in the Chapel Commons (basement), with snacks served beforehand at 8:45.

Break plates, enjoy food trucks at Complex event

Celebrate the coming improvements to Vollmer Hall and learn more about the Centennial Complex Challenge from 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 2, in the Centennial Complex Courtyard. The event will include:

 

Free cotton candy
Free kettle corn for the first 100 attendees
Food trucks with a $5 voucher for students
Smash booth (break plates and de-stress)
Photo booth

 

In the case of rain, the event will be held in the ballrooms on the second floor of the Student Center. Email bethany.brooks@wartburg.edu with questions.
