Performance appraisals due June 30
Just a reminder that performance appraisal forms are due no later than June 30. Performance appraisal forms are available on the InfoCenter under Employment, Forms and Procedures, Performance Appraisal FormsAppraisals generally cover the working period of June 1, 2017, through May 31, 2018. Direct questions to Human Resources.
NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
Wax on, wax off
Waxing of floors in Luther Hall will begin Thursday, June 28, at 4 p.m. Some of the exits will not be available, but signage will be in place so employees and guests can use alternative doors.
Advancement offices closed Thursday
The Institutional Advancement offices, including Development, Alumni and Marketing & Communication, will be closed Thursday, June 28, for a staff retreat.

Campus tree removal plan
Several trees on campus have been marked for removal. Many are ash trees infested with the emerald ash borer, and others are succumbing to age and other weaknesses. We are anticipating removal to happen the last two weeks of June. Please avoid areas on campus where the removal is occurring. The Landscape and Natural Resource Committee will review replacement of the trees (species and location). Click here for more details about the tree removal plan. HealthPartners - Bridges network update
The college has been working with HealthPartners to secure more physical therapists in the Bridges network. Several more have been added in the Waverly area. To search the network, click here. For search criteria, select: Medical Clinic; then Physical Therapy  

The college is also working with HealthPartners to establish more chiropractors in the Bridges network. More updates will be coming soon. If you have questions, please contact Amy Wilson, benefits administrator, at ext. 8278.
Health insurance eye exams 
If you plan to receive your annual eye exam through Health Partners, please make sure you choose an eye doctor who is a participating provider in your network. Holiday update for 2018-19
The Holiday Calendar for 2018-19 has been posted on the InfoCenter. Click on Employment, Forms and Procedures, Payroll and Personnel Forms. Because the New Year’s Day holiday falls on a Tuesday in 2019, the College is granting an additional holiday on Monday, Dec. 31, 2018. Please check with your supervisor, as some departments must be open on that date with operations critical to the college. 
Social change, nonviolence program opportunity
Satyagraha Institute (Brookings, S.D.) is accepting applications for its program on social change and nonviolence in the Black Hills, Aug. 5-14. If you are interested, click here. The focus of this year’s program is on a conversation between Gandhi and indigenous wisdom to help us better care for the earth.
Spring issue of Intersections out now
The spring issue of Intersections, the publication of the Network of ELCA Colleges and Universities, titled “Vocation for Life,” can be found at this link. (All back issues can be found on this site as well.) Intersections is one good way that our college participates in the network. PROFESSIONAL NOTES
 
Dr. Bill Withers, professor of journalism and communication, has been given a year's leave of absence from the college, effective this fall, to pursue a new lay-ministry leadership role with Lutheran Church of Hope (ELCA) in West Des Moines. Bill will continue to reside in Waverly through the summer until beginning work with Pastor Mike Housholder and his leadership team this fall in areas of strategy, development, church relations, and leadership development. 

Jill Westen, information literacy librarian, had two chapters published in the Music Library Association/A-R Editions collection Information Literacy in Music:An Instructor’s Companion: “Bias and perspective in world music sources” and “Research labs in an introductory music history course.”

Chris Ortner ’00 is the new head wrestling coach at Cedar Falls High School, as reported by the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier.

Quinton Clay ’05 is the new director of admissions at Northern Illinois University, as reported by NIU Today

Brooke Klostermann ’19 is ready to "have fun and play well" in her senior year, as reported by the Dubuque Telegraph Herald

Kenny Martin Jr. ’18 overcame a lot to finish high school and even more to graduate from college (with two wrestling national championships and a degree in fitness management), as reported by the Lincoln Journal Star.  

Robyn Friedman ’95, who ran cross country at Wartburg, is trying to bolster participation in her own community's running programs through the Newton Runing Club, as reported by the Newton Daily News

Physical therapists Rachel Pins ’12 and Molly Comacho ’00 were featured on KWWL for the work they did with sports journalist Rick Coleman following his ischemic stroke in November 2015. 

Britta Monson Fisher ’00 was named the chief housing officer for the Denver Office of Economic Development, as reported by the Denver Post
