Retirement celebration for Susan Lenius

Retirement celebration for Margaret Empie
Please join Wartburg College and Dining & Retail Services as we wish Dr. Margaret Empie, assistant vice president of Dining & Retail Services, a very happy retirement and thank her for all of her wonderful years of service to Wartburg. The celebration will be Wednesday, May 16, 9-10 a.m., in the Castle Room.
Dining & Retail Services structure review

Margaret Empie’s upcoming retirement will require us to review the overall structure in Dining & Retail Services and determine what changes, if any, need to be made to the existing structure. Until that review is completed, the following is the interim plan:

  • Effective June 1 – Marty Johnson will become interim director of Dining Services.
  • Wartburg Store and Mailroom operations will continue to report to Margaret through her retirement date of July 31.

We anticipate announcing any structural changes in the upcoming weeks. If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback, contact Rich Seggerman in LH 206 at 352-8215 or richard.seggerman@wartburg.edu no later than May 17. Thank you in advance for your patience during this time of transition.

Railroad work closes Bremer Avenue
Bremer Avenue has closed completely in both directions for work on the railroad tracks near the Pizza Hut on the west and at the 12th Street NW intersection on the east. This is expected to take four weeks to complete and should be done by Memorial Day weekend. Wilson Avenue (north of Bremer Avenue) will also be closed at the railroad tracks, so the north detour traffic must use Fifth Avenue NW. Rebecca Bennett ’18, Katie Linthicum ’18, and Blake Shipman ’18 were accompanied by Dr. Kyle Schenkewitz, visiting assistant professor of religion, to the 2018 Great Plains Undergraduate Theology Conference on April 13 at Creighton University. They presented their Religion Capstone papers and interacted with scholars from Iowa and Nebraska.
