NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS
Budget slideshow — The budget presentation that was shared at open meetings with faculty and staff in November is available on the Business Office forms page of the InfoCenter. The file is titled Budget and Expense Review Process (Nov. 2014).

Keep on Learning course proposals — The Keep on Learning Steering Committee is accepting course proposals for the 2015-16 academic year from faculty, staff, and retirees. The four-week courses are open to the public and held 9:30-11:30 a.m. Thursdays at Wartburg. Subject matter should have broad appeal but does not have to be within your academic discipline. Leaders of the selected courses receive a stipend of $600 (less appropriate withholding taxes for current faculty and staff). Proposals are due to the Academic Affairs Office, Luther Hall 202, by Friday, Feb. 27. Proposals should be brief and include information on the subject matter, a summary of the course, and an outline of content for each session. 2014 alumna passes away — Chelsey Henkenius, a 2014 graduate and Lake City native, died Saturday, Dec. 27, in a car accident in Lake City. She earned her biology degree in three years and was a member of the track and field team. 


Knightline submissions

Keep on Learning 
— Dr. Michael Bechtel will talk one-room schoolhouses, online education and scaly creatures during the Keep on Learning community education series this month.  Bechtel, assistant professor of biology education, will explore the evolution of the public education system Jan. 8 and 15 in a discussion-type format. Then, Jan. 22 and 29, participants will learn about reptiles and amphibians. All classes are in the Heritage Room of Saemann Student Center from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The first class is free; a $30 fee due at the second class covers the rest of the sessions. For more information, call 352-8491, email alumni@wartburg.edu, or visit www.wartburg.edu/kol.


Exhibit opens
 — Creations formed from found and appropriated objects and clay-covered debris will be featured at an exhibition opening Friday, Jan. 9, at Waldemar A. Schmidt Gallery in Bachmann Fine Arts Center. Ballast, showcasing creations by Gratia Brown, will run through Feb. 13. A reception will be Thursday, Feb. 12, 7-9 p.m. Brown is a resident artist and lecturer in ceramics at the University of North Dakota. The exhibit is free and open to the public. The gallery is open 9 a.m.-7 p.m. daily. 
 
Marriage preparation — Spiritual Life & Campus Ministry will offer Preparing for Marriage workshops on four Sundays during Winter Term: Jan. 18, Jan. 25, Feb. 8, and Feb. 15. The workshops, held 6-7 p.m. in Chapel Commons, will focus on foundations for a healthy marriage. All are welcome to the free sessions. FCA group forms
— Strengthen your faith through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a new organization on campus. Students, staff, and faculty are invited to a meeting featuring guest speaker Aaron Thomas Thursday, Jan. 8, 8:30 p.m., in Levick Arena. Thomas is the son of the late Aplington-Parkersburg football coach Ed Thomas. Led by student-athletes, FCA encourages coaches, student-athletes, and all students to serve through fellowship in the church. Club activities will include Bible studies, community service events, and discussions based on speakers.
