NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS
FCA group forms — Strengthen your faith through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a new organization on campus. Students, staff, and faculty are invited to a meeting featuring guest speaker Aaron Thomas Thursday, Jan. 8, 8:30 p.m., in Levick Arena. Thomas is the son of the late Aplington-Parkersburg football coach Ed Thomas. Led by student-athletes, FCA encourages coaches, student-athletes, and all students to serve through fellowship in the church. Club activities will include Bible studies, community service events, and discussions based on speakers. 


Run for office
 — Interested in running for 2015-2016 student body president, vice president, recorder, or treasurer? Applications, due by Jan. 26, are available online. For more information, contact senate@wartburg.edu or Teri Mueller, student body president, at teri.mueller@wartburg.edu.

 

Pet therapy for finals — Take a break from the stress of finals with pet therapy. Join SAFE and the Cedar Bend Humane Society today, Dec. 11, 4–8 p.m., in Chapel Commons. For more information, contact Counseling Services at 352-8596 or counseling@wartburg.edu.


Senate scholarship
 — The Student Senate Leadership Scholarship application is now available. In the spirit of the college's mission statement, Student Senate annually funds two $500 scholarships for Wartburg students who exemplify the qualities of leadership and service. Current second and third-year students are eligible to apply. Applications can be found online. For more information, contact senate@wartburg.edu


Catholic Mass
— Catholic Mass will be tonight, Dec. 11, 9 p.m., in Wartburg Chapel.


December Commencement and Sunday worship
 — Thirty-three graduates will receive diplomas during midyear Baccalaureate and Commencement Sunday, Dec. 14, 10:30 a.m., in Wartburg Chapel. The Rev. Brian Beckstrom, campus pastor, will give the message. Music will be provided by the Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Daniel Kaplunas, assistant professor of music. A reception will follow in the lobby of Bachman Fine Arts Center. The service will be live streamed on Knight Vision.


Gluten-free goodies
 — Dining Services is selling gluten-free cheesecakes for the holidays. The white chocolate raspberry swirl and praline pumpkin cheesecakes cost $24 and serve approximately 14. Order online for pickup at your convenience. With questions, call Dining Services at 352-8303. 


Incomplete grade information
 — Remember to complete a Student Request for Incomplete Grade form if you have the consent of your instructor to postpone required course work due to extenuating circumstances. The form is not required for internships and venture education course work, but it is encouraged. The form is available on My.Wartburg or in the Registrar’s Office, Luther Hall 216. Any incomplete grades without a completed form will be changed to an F Tuesday, Dec. 16, 4:30 p.m. Contact the Registrar’s Office in person or at 352-8272 for more information.


De-Stress Fest
 — Need a break during finals? Vogel Library is hosting its second annual De-Stress Fest through Friday, Dec. 12. Stations will be set up with Play-Doh, puzzles, board games, Legos, and more during regular library hours. Dog-petting sessions, hosted by ID315 in partnership with Retrieving Freedom, will be Dec. 8 and 9, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. 


Winter bike storage
 — The Campus Security office in Saemann Student Center will accept bicycles until Friday, Dec. 12, for winter storage. There is no charge, but your bike must be registered with the college. Also, you must agree to leave it in storage until a point in March when it is apparent that severe winter weather has ended.
