NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

Christmas with Wartburg tickets — Information about ordering tickets for Christmas with Wartburg prior to public sale has been sent to faculty and staff through campus mail. The Ticket Office at the Saemann Student Center Information Desk will be staffed Monday, Oct. 27-Friday, Oct. 31, noon-4 p.m., to assist with ordering. This year Wartburg also is offering — to the campus only — free tickets for the dress rehearsal Wednesday, Dec. 3, 5 p.m., in Neumann Auditorium. These tickets also must be claimed at the Ticket Office.

Fall Break parking regulations — During Fall Break, students may park in any student parking lot but must be back into their assigned lot by the evening of Sunday, Oct. 26. Street and faculty lots are available throughout the break with the exception of overnight parking. Overnight parking in a faculty parking lot, loading zone, or the streets is not permitted and subject to fines. Specific questions should be addressed to Campus Security. 

Fall Break — The first break of the academic year comes this week. Classes are off today and Friday, Oct. 23-24, and resume Monday, Oct. 27.

Parade contest results — Congratulations to KWAR for winning the Homecoming Parade Spirit Contest. The radio station earned the top prize of $200. The Wartburg Ambassadors and Students UKnight teamed up to win second place and $100. Third place and $50 went to Dance Marathon.

Development series event — RSVP by today, Oct. 23, for a Fall Professional Development Series event Thursday, Oct. 30, 9-10:30 a.m., in Science Center 102. Dan '95 and Jennifer Digmann have battled multiple sclerosis for more than 30 years combined. Their inspiring message, Create a Culture of Inclusion, will center on how they cope. RSVP to tracy.keller@wartburg.edu or 352-8394. The series is sponsored by Human Resources & Payroll, Pathways Center, and the Diversity and Inclusion Council. 

Harlington Cemetery Tour — The Wartburg College History Club and Phi Alpha Theta honor society will host the second annual Harlington Cemetery Tour Sunday, Nov. 2. Walk amongst the graves with Terry Lindell, professor of history, as he shares stories of Waverly’s past residents and points out fascinating details about burial traditions of bygone years. Tours begin at 1 and 3 p.m. Visit the Humanities Office on the third floor of Luther Hall to sign up and prepay the $5 admission. Transportation to the cemetery will be provided. Campaign launched — A surprise announcement of a $2 million challenge grant from campaign steering committee co-chairs Michael and Marge McCoy highlighted Friday's gala to launch the Transforming Tomorrow comprehensive campaign. The campaign's $75 million goal includes $37 million to ensure student access, $14 million to enhance student living and learning, $16 million for programs enabling student success and $8 million for the annual fund. To that end $53.9 million in gifts and commitments was secured during the campaign's leadership phase, which began in June 2012. Homecoming wrap-up — Re-live Homecoming 2014 through a photo album and Knight Vision videos of Kastle Kapers and the Homecoming concert.

STEM seminar — The next Department of Math, Computer Science & Physics seminar is Tuesday, Oct. 28, 11:30 a.m., in Science Center 134. Representatives from Iowa State University and the University of Iowa will be at the session. Students interested in graduate school in STEM fields should attend.

Contest winners — Congratulations to the winners of the window painting contest for Homecoming:

  • First place: Res 106 
  • Second place: Cornils Manor 13 and 14
  • Third place: Grossmann 218 and Grossmann 118 

More than 15 rooms participated. Thanks to these groups and the Center for Community Engagement, winner of the office decorating contest, for sharing homecoming spirit!
