Surveillance testing begins this week

Beginning Thursday, Feb. 18, the college will begin using its supply of Abbott BinaxNOW antigen tests to initiate a surveillance testing program. Selected students will receive an email from Dean Dan Kittle inviting them to participate in the testing, which will take place weekly on Thursdays during Community Time. Participation directions will be provided in the email from Dean Kittle. Students are not required to participate, but we strongly encourage those selected to be tested if at all possible. If you would like to participate, but are unable on the week you are selected, you can request to be moved to a different week.

In-season student-athletes will not be selected since they already are being tested in compliance with NCAA protocol. If you have any questions, please send them to covidresponse@wartburg.edu.

Quarantine exemption for vaccinated individuals

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently announced that fully vaccinated individuals (two doses) with an exposure to someone with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis are not required to quarantine if they meet all of the following criteria:

It has been at least two weeks since receiving the second dose of a two-dose vaccine series or more than two weeks since receiving the first dose of a single-dose vaccine.
It has been less than three months since the last dose in the vaccine series was administered.
The individual has remained asymptomatic since the current COVID-19 exposure.

If you have been fully vaccinated and would like to be exempt from quarantine, please send proof of vaccination to covidresponse@wartburg.edu. Questions about these new guidelines can be directed to the same email.
