Dining hours for Christmas break

Click here to see the hours for the Dining Services locations during the extended Christmas break. The Den and the Konditorei will be closed Dec. 19 to Jan. 3. The Zesty Orange will be closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1. Mensa is closed until Jan. 17, when it will reopen for the evening meal.

Gimme a Break: More activities added for students

All students are welcome to take part in the following free activities just for fun over the break. As more activities are added to the list below, we'll include them at www.wartburg.edu/break and will promote them on Wartburg's Instagram Story as dates approach.

Some activities require pre-registration to send you free materials.

NEW: Bewitching Book Club
Led by Dr. Penni Pier (Journalism & Communication) and Kendall Erenberger (fourth-year student)
• The registration deadline is due Wednesday, Dec. 9, at this link. Read and discuss the book “Practical Magic” by Alice Hoffman. The novel tells the story of the Owen sisters, who are confronted by the challenges of life and love in this “bewitching” novel.

WHEN: Weekly discussions begin Wednesday, Dec. 16, at noon CST.

STARTS TUESDAY: Yoga/Fitness Classes
Led by Carrie Gleason (The W)
• Continue your fitness habits through break, with a fun and fast yoga class to give you the accountability to stay on track! A fitness playlist will be posted for participants to listen to as we flow through a 30-minute Vinyasa Flow Class.
WHEN: 9:30-10 a.m. on Tuesdays, starting Dec. 8.

NEW: Gingerbread House Competition
•  The Alumni Office is hosting a gingerbread house competition this holiday season, open to current students, too. Purchase a kit or bake your own pieces and get building! Take a picture of your completed house and email it as an attachment to alumni@wartburg.edu. Submissions will be accepted through Wednesday, Dec. 16. Please include your name(s), grad year, and age division you are entering. You can enter multiple houses, but only one category per house. Categories to enter are:
• Youth (age 10 and under)
• Teen (ages 11-17)
• Adult (ages 18+)
Family
We’ll put all of the entries in a Facebook album, and the house with the most likes in each division will receive a $25 Wartburg Store gift card! Special prizes will be awarded for most Wartburg spirit, most festive, and most creative.

•  Make your own personalized greeting cards to send to family and friends.

NEW: Launch Cedar Valley Pre-Flight Entrepreneurial Intro Workshop
Led by Kristin Teig Torres (Center for Community Engagement)
This introduction will help you know what you need to consider when developing a new project, product, program or idea for a non-proft or for-profit. This 2-hour workshop will give you the tools to think through an idea.
