Friday, January 17, 2020 / Categories: News The Juice - Jan. 16 View in browser Jan. 16, 2020 Monday's class schedule condensed for MLK Day activities Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day; Wartburg alters the class schedule on this federal holiday to free students and faculty to participate in afternoon service projects (see below). Class periods one through six will meet for 50 minutes with a 10-minute break between each. Weekday Chapel will not be held. Evening classes will meet at their regularly scheduled time. Class schedule for Monday: • Period 1 (regularly starting at 7:45 a.m.) will be 7:45-8:35 a.m. • Period 2 (9 a.m.) will be 8:45-9:35 a.m. • Period 3 (10:45 a.m.) will be 9:45-10:35 a.m. • Period 4 (noon) will be 10:45-11:35 a.m. • Period 5 (1:15 p.m.) will be 11:45 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. • Period 6 (2:30 p.m.) will be 12:45-1:35 p.m. Events for MLK Week Monday, Jan. 20 • Day of Service Kick-off, 1:45 p.m., McCaskey Lyceum • Day of Service activities (more volunteers needed), start at 2 p.m., several locations around Waverly, sign up at this link. Car-pooling available, some sites are within walking distance of campus. • Blankets of Love, Chapel Commons, 2-3:30 p.m. or 3:30-5 p.m., registrations are full, no more volunteers needed. • MLK Stop & Serve, 2-4 p.m., Saemann Student Center Tuesday, Jan. 21 • MLK Lunch & Learn: “The Cycle of Injustice?,” 11:30-1 p.m., Clinton Hall Soenke Classroom • Sip & Paint, 7-10 p.m., The W Classroom. Pre-registration available in Student Life office starting this afternoon. Wednesday, Jan. 22 • MLK Chapel, 10:15 a.m., Wartburg Chapel • Jennifer Ulie-Wells, Ph.D., “Who Do I Want You To Be? Racial/Cultural Trauma in Schools,” 4 p.m., McCaskey Lyceum Thursday, Jan. 23 • Lady Caress, spoken word artist, 8 p.m., McCaskey Lyceum, co-sponsored with MLK and ETK MLK Week is managed each year by the MLK Committee in collaboration with the Multicultural Student Services Office.
