Please contact the Mail Center at mailroom@wartburg.edu if your department will be closed July 5 for the holiday so that we do not attempt deliveries unnecessarily. The Mail Center will be closed to allow for maintenance work on Friday, July 19. Mail and packages received over that weekend will be processed on Monday, July 22. We apologize for any inconvenience. NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS Friendship families for international students The Wartburg College International Programs office is currently seeking "friendship families" for approximately 35 new international students arriving at the end of August. Friendship families do not house or act as advisers or financial sponsors to the students. They simply meet with their student(s) throughout the year to share meals, holidays, or participate in a variety of cultural activities. Update your emergency contact info The HR & Payroll Office has added a new link on the Info Center to add/update/change your emergency contact information. Knightline to go out next week If you have news and events in July to promote to the readers of Knightline, please send in your items for consideration in our monthly e-newsletter that goes out to thousands of Wartburg alumni, parents and friends. Knightline is sent out by the Alumni Office, which reserves the right to edit and include items at its discretion. Due to the July Fourth holiday, the July edition will be sent out Thursday, July 11. PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS Net tuition and budget information President Colson and Rich Seggerman shared net tuition and budget information with various divisional staff leaders earlier this week. Similar information was shared with the Faculty Council earlier this month. The information shared can be found at this link on the InfoCenter. There will be additional opportunities for individuals to provide feedback and ask questions, which will be communicated in the near future. Juice publishing schedule for summer The Juice will publish intermittently through the summer as needed, about every other week for the Faculty/Staff edition. • Weekly Juice emails will begin again Monday, Aug. 26, just before the start of Fall Term. The aquaponics team has been requested again to present at the Iowa State Fair STEM Day on Aug. 18 in Des Moines. • The NITARP (NASA/IPAC Teacher Archive Research Program) team made up of Hannah James '20, Jennifer Wiley '20, Johanna VanderWilt '21 and Dr. Bechtel will head to CalTech in late July to work on their research into YSO (Young Stellar Objects) of the M8 Nebula. • Dr. Bechtel was invited to participate in the next step of implementation for the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP). The assessments are aligned with the Iowa Core standards and provide a clear and accurate assessment of student learning outcomes. Former Wartburg wrestler Punahele Soriano ’14 earned a UFC contract after going 6-0 in his professional MMA career, as reported by Hawaii News Now. Steve Timm ’90, a leader in avionics at Collins Aerospace, talked about the future of the industry with the Cedar Rapids Gazette. Coach emeritus Jim Miller will become the next director of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum in Waterloo, as reported by the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, Des Moines Register, and KWWL. Tom Trygstad ’95 led the Valley High School boys track team to its third consecutive state Class 4A team title, as reported by the Forest City Sentinel. Dakota Hottle ’15 was awarded one of nine 2019 Iowa Veterinary Medical Association Foundation Sustaining Involvement with the IVMA Scholarships, as reported by the Osceola Sentinel Tribune.
