The USPS will increase stamp and shipping rates Jan. 21. Package shipping will increase by an average of 6%. Forever stamps for letters will increase to 68 cents; forever postcard stamps will increase to 53 cents. International stamps increase to $1.55. Large envelope minimum postage will be raised to $1.39, with 24 cents for each additional ounce. Stamps are available at USPS rates from the Wartburg Mail Center; please contact the Mail Center if large quantities are desired in advance of the rate increase to ensure inventory.

UKnight Day Champions sought in each office
|
Support UKnight Day 2024 by becoming a UKnight Day Champion! Your duties would include participating in the day, encouraging your peers to be one of 1,500 donors, and proudly wearing your exclusive Champion T-shirt. Advancement is also looking for one person in each department/office to be a Champion and encourage those in your area to participate on UKnight Day. Auditions set for short film
|
Knight Vision Films is looking for talented actors to fill a large cast for a short film. Auditions in McElroy Center 225 will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 20. Preparation is not needed. Filming will take place Jan. 26-28 in Waverly.

Nominations are now open for the Wartburg Medal, Graven Award, and honorary degrees. All nominations are due March 1, and recipients will be recognized during the 2024-25 academic year. These awards are three of the most prestigious honors the college bestows and honor individuals for their contributions and commitments to the college, church, community, and society.

University of Iowa Summer Undergraduate Program
|
Study cancer at the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center from May 18 to July 26. A stipend of $6,000 will be awarded for travel and housing. Applicants must be U.S. residents, and preference will be given to those from populations historically marginalized in science.

Lindsey Leonard received her NASPA Certificate in Student Affairs Law & Policy, an intensive 23-hour residential program that provides an opportunity for in-depth study to enhance student affairs professionals' knowledge and understanding of law and policy. |

Dr. Sean T. Coleman, associate professor of biology, co-authored an article with a cohort of faculty as part of the HHMI Science Education Alliance on Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experiences in the journal Frontiers in Education. The article, “Models of Classroom Assessment for Course-Based Research Experiences,” presents results from a three-year, qualitative, large-scale, community-based investigation of the ways in which active faculty who teach in a shared course-based research experience (CURE) conduct their in-lab assessments. Prior research has shown that the design of a CURE presents particular challenges for instruction and assessment. The current study addresses ways in which faculty handle this challenge and presents the practices and models of assessment used by faculty. |
