Football ends run in semifinals

The Wartburg football team narrowly fell to North Central on Saturday in the NCAA semifinals, ending the season with a 13-1 record. Thanks to everyone for your support of the team and for help with hosting games the last four weeks — and congrats to the team on another record-breaking run!

|
Need a break? There is a de-stress station and snack basket in Vogel Library next to the second-floor circulation desk. Activities will vary throughout the week and include coloring, small puzzles, snowflake making, and origami.

Old T-shirts needed for MLK Day
|
Volunteers will turn T-shirts into dog toys on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. When you go home for holiday break, gather up your old, unwanted T-shirts to donate to this effort.

Esports team advances to nationals

The esports Overwatch 2 squad recently won the Heartland Regional Championships, and they will advance to nationals this May. Congrats!

Development sets year-end hours
|
The Development Office will be open to receive year-end gifts from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 30. The door to Luther Hall on the south side of Neumann Auditorium will be unlocked for those dropping off their gifts in person.

Peer Success Coach, Student Success Center
In this role you will have the opportunity to showcase your customer service skills by supporting the Student Life reception area and helping students navigate campus resources. Conduct and manage student outreach projects and provide ideas and feedback to professional staff regarding student needs and requests for services/programs/workshops.

Achievements and accomplishments

MaTina Clark, assistant registrar for transfer and articulation processes, represented Wartburg as a member of a roundtable discussion on transfer partnerships during the Community Colleges for Iowa Convention and Tradeshow in Des Moines on Nov. 29. As a member of the Iowa Private Transfer Collaborative Steering Committee, Clark and other transfer champions across the state, including Dr. Daniel Walther, are working to create transfer pathways from community colleges to private institutions in Iowa.

Volunteer applications open for Waverly Health Center
|
Applications to participate in the Waverly Health Center Volunteer Program during Winter Term are now being accepted. This is a great way to build your resume toward applying to graduate school in the medical fields. Please visit Student Life (across from the Den) to sign up and receive the volunteer packet. Increase in vandalism, thefts reported
|
Wartburg Security has noticed an uptick in vandalism and thefts around campus, especially involving parked cars. Please be respectful of our community property as well as that of others, and remember to lock your car doors to prevent crimes of opportunity. If you see suspicious activity or have something to report, call Security at 319-352-9999.

Mail Center announces hours through Christmas break

The Mail Center will operate the following hours over the holidays:

Dr. Sean T. Coleman, associate professor of biology, presented at the American Society of Microbiology Conference for Undergraduate Educators’ national meeting in Phoenix from Nov. 17-19. He presented twice, including the poster "A jigsaw and role-play-based open educational resource over COVID-19 tests increases student understanding of antigens, antibodies, and viral testing" and the microbrew "A Concept Map and Case Study Driven Introductory Immunology Class." He also participated in a workshop about improving inclusivity in STEM education the day before the conference. |
