Summer hours start today!
Temporary cooling solution for the FAC and Chapel
|
We are experiencing challenges with the cooling units used in Bachman Fine Arts Center and Wartburg Chapel. Normally, there are three connected units that handle these spaces. This spring only two of them were working. We attempted to fix the unit that was not working and decided the best long-term solution would be to purchase and install new units. New units have been ordered, but the lead time to receive the units is 30 to 60 weeks because of supply chain issues.
We are now experiencing problems with one of the two remaining units. As the new units will not arrive in time for use this summer, we will bring in a temporary cooling unit, or chiller, today. It will take approximately two days to get this unit connected and running. During this time, there will be no air conditioning in the FAC or Chapel. This chiller will be on the east side of the loading dock on the south side of the FAC. We understand this is not the ideal situation, but we believe this is a reasonable temporary solution to maintain an appropriate temperature that will allow individuals to work and events to be held in the buildings while preserving the organs, pianos, musical instruments and electronic equipment. This temporary solution will be used for cooling for the remainder of 2023.
