Dining Services sets May Term hours

Campus eateries will operate under the following hours during May Term:

Mensa
7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday to Friday
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every day
5 to 6:30 p.m. every day

 

The Den
8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Friday

The Konditorei
7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday
6 to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday

 

The Zesty Orange
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Saturday
1 to 5 p.m. Sunday

Meal transfers will end for the academic year at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, May 25. Board plan meals end after lunch Friday, May 26. Points are good through Sunday, May 28. Service hours will change for Commencement weekend; please keep an eye out for additional information.

Wartburg Alert Test set May 4
A Wartburg Alert test will be conducted Thursday, May 4. To register or change your preferences, log in to Wartburg Alert with your Wartburg email address.
‘There’s More to the Story’ during National Library Week

Vogel Library is celebrating National Library Week with the theme “There’s More to the Story.” Libraries share stories through books, DVDs, music scores, CDs, and even technology to create your own story in words or pictures to share with others. This week, stop by Vogel Library to see a selection of favorite childhood stories of library staff and student employees. You can also learn how recent legislation is affecting libraries. Share your library story with us and receive some swag!

Vogel Library publishes May Newsletter

The latest edition of The Searching Squirrel, Vogel Library’s newsletter, is now available. It includes news about new databases, hammocks, lawn games, a new book collection, and May hours.

Performance appraisals due June 30

Performance appraisals and self-appraisals are due by June 30. Appraisal templates can be found on the Info Center. Once completed and signed by all parties, please submit the forms to the Human Resources Office. Email hr@wartburg.edu with questions.

Summer office hours begin May 30
Summer hours, which means all offices close at 4 p.m. each day, will begin May 30 and end Aug. 26.

Registration for the second annual Wartburg Chess Championship begins at 5:45 p.m., and the first round begins at 6:15 p.m. All are welcome to compete, but only Wartburg students qualify to be crowned the 2023 Wartburg Chess Champion.

Achievements and accomplishments
Dr. Kuni Terasawa, associate professor of religion, presented "A Nonviolent Resistance and Buddhist Diplomacy for Peace in Asia and Europe" as part of Religions and Peace Movements: A Comparative Study at the ASIANetwork Conference in Columbus, Ohio, from April 14-16.
Students presented posters at the Iowa Academy of Science annual conference in Cedar Falls on April 21. Genoa Gregg ’23, Gabby Corday ’23, and Ashley Bloomquist ’23 presented results of their senior research with Olivia Hobson, Dr. Michaeleen Golay, and Dr. Stephanie Toering Peters. Their project on the extraction of RNA from Hydrophyllum virginianum is part of an ongoing study by Toering Peters and Golay that was funded by the Iowa Science Foundation. Dr. Golay also represented the Biology 152 teaching team (Dr. Eric Emmons, Dr. Samantha Larimer Bousquet, Toering Peters, and Eric Berns) in sharing a poster on the Classroom-Based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) lab design for BI 152. IINspire student Zee Naba ’26 attended with Golay to talk about her experience with the CURE.
Kay Grigsby, the Grant Price Endowed Archivist, presented at the Library of Congress' Radio Preservation Task Force conference in Washington, D.C., last week. She participated in a panel discussion and presented on audio and visual preservation for smaller institutions as part of her work with the Archives of Iowa Broadcasting.

Dr. Patricia Dietz Parsons and Chris Parsons announce the birth of daughter Carsten Kayln Parsons on March 29.

Achievements and accomplishments

Nine students presented their research projects at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research in Eau Claire, Wis., on April 13-14. Zef Ngove, Chai Reddy, Emma Hickman, Hidaly Hernandez, Pedro Martinez, Robby Munoz, Brooklyn Ferrie, Emma Alpern, and Lindsey Spolidoro presented projects in biology, neuroscience, and psychology. Faculty members Dr. Sean Coleman and Dr. Stephanie Toering Peters attended the conference with the students.
