Mail Center announces break hours

From now until Winter Term, the Mail Center will be open:

Dec. 12-15: Regular hours (9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) |

Dec. 16: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — this is also the last recommended date for mailing items due by Christmas |

Dec. 19-23: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. |

Dec.24-Jan. 3: Closed — packages and mail will be held in the Mail Center or made accessible to residents who remain on campus |

Depending on space, the Mail Center may open Sunday, Jan. 8, during the dinner hour or 8 a.m. Jan. 9 to encourage pickup of textbooks for Winter Term. Packages and mail will not be forwarded during the break. Please email mailroom@wartburg.edu with requests or concerns.

Football team breaks records in season finale
|
The Wartburg football team's season came to an end Saturday in the NCAA semifinals, the furthest run the program has ever made at the national championship. The team broke a number of long-standing records during the game. Congratulations to all the players and coaches, and thank you to all the fans for your support! |

Applications open for RAs, orientation leaders
|
Applications for resident assistants and orientation leaders are now available. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. Feb. 3. These positions are a great way to grow leadership skills while engaging in meaningful interactions with peers on campus.

Incomplete grade forms due Dec. 15
|
Please remember to complete a Request for Incomplete Grade form by 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, if you have the consent of your instructor to postpone required course work due to extenuating circumstances. The form is not required for internships and study abroad coursework.
The form can be found in the Forms section on My.Wartburg or in the Registrar’s Office. Any incomplete grades without a completed Request for Incomplete Grade form will be changed to an F. If you have any questions, contact the Registrar’s Office.

Meal scheduled for students on campus over break
|
|
A group of residents at Eisenach Village is planning a meal over the holiday break for students who remain on campus. A lasagna dinner will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, in the new kitchen in the Ubuntu Center. No RSVP is required for this free meal.

The Wartburg College Business and Financial Aid offices will hold a holiday open house today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Luther Hall 212. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to stop by to enjoy treats and hot apple cider as a token of appreciation for all you do!

MLK Day of Service scheduled
|
Mark your calendars for Jan. 16 to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Class schedules will be shortened to give students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to serve on campus and off. SPIRITUAL LIFE & CAMPUS MINISTRY

Weekday Chapel services are from 10:15 to 10:35 a.m. each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in Wartburg Chapel. Chapel time is a brief opportunity to gather with students, staff, and faculty to reflect on God and faith. Mondays feature faculty and staff faith stories and blessings, Wednesdays include Holy Communion to which all are welcome, and Fridays have Senior Chapels.
Chapel services will resume Jan. 9.
Each month will have a prayer focus. In December, please join us in praying for the departments of music, religion, and philosophy; all music ensembles; conference and event staff; the Noah Campus Health Clinic; the Ticket Office; and all second-year students.

Sanctuary is a casual service that takes place Wednesday nights. All are welcome to relax and center themselves around God’s word in the midst of their busy weeks. Service begins at 9 p.m. in the Chapel Commons (lower level), with snacks served beforehand at 8:45.

On Nov. 22, Dr. Karolina Achirri organized and conducted a Culture and Diversity Conference for sixth-graders at W-SR Middle School. While Dr. Achirri gave keynotes that day, students from her classes volunteered to carry out practical diversity- and culture-related activities with the middle-schoolers during breakout sessions.

Amazon deliveries likely delayed all month
|
Amazon deliveries to campus are experiencing delays further up the shipping chain, and delays are expected to continue the rest of the month. The Mail Center advises the campus community to take these delays into account when placing orders to be delivered to campus. Most Amazon packages cannot be forwarded and will need to be reshipped at further cost to the individual if they need to be sent to a different address. Andrew Szarejko, assistant professor of political science, attended the International Studies Association's Midwest Annual Conference in St. Louis from Nov. 18-20. He presented a paper, "Learning Counterinsurgency: America's Indian Wars and the Occupation of the Philippines," and he chaired an author-meets-critics roundtable on a recent book, “Beyond the Wire: U.S. Military Deployments and Host Country Public Opinion.” |

IINspire sent computer science major Isiana Carr-Coleman to the AfroTech conference in Austin, Texas, in November. AfroTech is the largest Black tech conference of the year with programming on emerging trends, networking opportunities with industry leaders, and conversations with top tech recruiters. |

Dr. Tammy Faux, professor of social work, was elected to a three-year term as a program director for the board of the Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors. A national association, BPD represents the interests of undergraduate education and practice in social work. |
