Renaissance Faire
Wartburg College’s Renaissance Faire is an event where student organizations, athletics, and local businesses can promote themselves and sell goods at a vendor-style fair. This year, the Ren Faire will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, on the campus mall. Registration for booths closes Friday, Sept. 23.
Parade
Join the parade! Student organizations and local businesses can have a float in the parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15. You will be emailed more details when you submit your application.
Window Painting Spirit Contest
Show your Knight pride in the Window Painting Spirit Contest. The top three student windows will receive cash prizes of $200, $100, or $50. Painting supplies will be provided and can be picked up in the Alumni & Parent Engagement Office on Sept. 29 and 30. Registration for the contest closes Wednesday, Sept. 28.
Reverse tie-dye sponsorship
A new event this year will give students the opportunity to bleach dye (reverse tie-dye) T-shirts donated by student organizations and departments. If your organization or department does not have any T-shirts to donate, the Homecoming Committee is open to other ideas or activities your organization could host at this event. Register to donate shirts or participate in another way.
You can pick up Homecoming shirts and stickers from the Homecoming Committee, which will table outside the Mensa stairs Tuesdays and Thursdays through Oct. 6. If you have any questions, email homecoming@wartburg.edu.

Love to travel and give back to new communities? Service Trips is an on-campus organization that provides opportunities for groups of students and an adviser to travel and volunteer in different parts of the U.S. The first trips head out during Fall Break, Oct. 27-30. Student payday shifts to 14th of each month
|
Student employees are now paid monthly on 14th of the each month rather than the 15th. If the 14th falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or federal holiday, student payday will be moved up to the preceding business day. For those students that have work hours Sept. 1-30, they will receive their wages on Friday, Oct. 14. See a schedule of upcoming student employee paydays.

Tai Verdes event ticket sales open
|
Tickets sales are open for the 2022 ETK Large Event, Tai Verdes with opening act Running Lights, which will be Saturday, Oct. 8. The first 200 people to purchase tickets will be put in a drawing to win free ETK swag. Follow @etk_wartburg on Instagram for more concert giveaways and to keep up to date on Large Event information.

Donate gloves in honor of President Neiduski
|
Wartburg is collecting gloves of all kinds in connection with the inauguration of President Neiduski, a certified hand therapist. All types of gloves will be accepted — winter, sports, safety, etc. — and will be distributed in Iowa and, when possible, at locations served by our Service Trips program. Bring a new or gently used pair of gloves to the football game on Oct. 8 or 15 or leave a donation at bins in The W, near the Info Desk, or outside the Konditorei.

S.A.F.E. Candlelight Vigil set Sept. 26
|
Suicide Awareness for Everyone (S.A.F.E.) will host a candlelight vigil for Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, on the campus mall in front of Old Main. The rain location will be Chapel Commons. All are welcome to participate in this night of remembrance, and the S.A.F.E. Vimeo recently purchased LiveStream, the company that hosts Knight Vision streams of games, concerts, and other events. As a result, Knight Vision is in the process of switching to Vimeo. All live streams will continue to be available from www.wartburg.edu/knightvision. Archived streams will be available after the conversion is complete.

"Life After Graduation" event to feature Northwestern Mutual
|
Phi Beta Lambda’s first event of the year will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, in WBC 116. Representatives from Northwestern Mutual will present “Life After Graduation,” which will provide tips on debt, student loans, living expenses, and future income. Weekday Chapel services are from 10:15 to 10:35 a.m. each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in Wartburg Chapel. Chapel time is a brief opportunity to gather with students, staff, and faculty to reflect on God and faith. Mondays feature faculty and staff faith stories and blessings, Wednesdays include Holy Communion to which all are welcome, and Fridays have Senior Chapels.

Entertainment ToKnight has booked Tai Verdes for its Large Event on Saturday, Oct. 8. Opening act Running Lights will perform at 8 p.m., followed by Verdes at 9 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help staff the event beginning at 6:30 p.m. until the event is over. New exhibit on display in Wartburg gallery
|
"Sound as a Map" by Mille Guldbeck will be on display Sept. 5 through Oct. 20 in the Waldemar A. Schmidt Art Gallery. Guldbeck’s work is inspired by her personal experiences of landscape and are created from her own sensory observations and memory. She aims to depict alternate realities informed by (mis)observation, exploring how color, shape, light, and placement affect perception. A closing reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, with an artist's talk at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Spirit of Ubuntu Award nominations sought
|
President Rebecca Neiduski and her leadership team are now accepting nominations for the first Spirit of Ubuntu Awards, which will be given during the Presidential Forum at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 27. The peer-nominated awards will lift up one faculty and one staff member who are leaders in building an inclusive community on campus and exemplify the spirit of ubuntu — I am because we are. Nominations for the Sept. 27 awards are due Sept. 23. Additional awards will be given during future Presidential Forums, so please continue to nominate those you see living out the spirit of ubuntu.

Waverly Health Center seeks volunteers

Fall applications to volunteer at the Waverly Health Center are being accepted in the Student Success Center. Please stop at the front desk to sign up on the clipboard and receive your orientation packet from Jo Dorrance. The deadline is Sept. 23, and space is limited to 15 students who are second-years or beyond. If you are already part of the WHC Volunteer Program, you do not need to apply again.

The W is planning to offer a light stretching session twice a week via Zoom. This would be a very light stretch and would not require any change of clothing, special equipment, or a baseline fitness level. Faculty-in-residence offers office hours with poodle
|
Dr. Rachel Clark, associate professor of English and faculty-in-residence, will offer Jellybean Office Hours twice a week this term. Students are welcome to spend time with Jellybean, Clark’s standard poodle puppy, and can also receive help and advice from Clark. Times and locations will vary throughout the term and will be posted on GroupMe.
