Welcome to the Juice!

The Juice is an official college communication that includes the latest announcements, events, and other news items. Find it in your inbox each Monday classes are in session and at other times as needed.

The deadline each week is 4 p.m. Thursday, and you can always find the submission link at the bottom of each Juice. Most items will run twice, then continue to be available in the Information Center. You can choose to publish items in the student version, faculty/staff version, or both. If you have an urgent announcement, please email alan.simmer@wartburg.edu directly.

SPIRITUAL LIFE & CAMPUS MINISTRY

Weekday Chapel services

Weekday Chapel services are from 10:15 to 10:35 a.m. each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in Wartburg Chapel. Chapel time is a brief opportunity to gather with students, staff, and faculty to reflect on God and faith. Mondays feature faculty and staff faith stories and blessings, Wednesdays include Holy Communion to which all are welcome, and Fridays have Senior Chapels.

Upcoming speakers:

Wednesday, Sept. 7: the Rev. Halcyon Bjornstad
Friday, Sept. 9: Rachel Green, Senior Chapel

Each month will have a prayer focus. In September, please join us in praying for all students, faculty, and staff in these areas: education, music education, the Academic Resource Center, the Student Success Center, the dean of students, Residential Life, RAs and orientation staff, Counseling Services, and all first-year students.

Sanctuary on Wednesdays

Sanctuary is a casual service that takes place Wednesday nights. All are welcome to relax and center themselves around God’s word in the midst of their busy weeks. In September, service begins at 9 p.m. outside the Chapel tower (rain site: Chapel Commons, lower level), with snacks served beforehand at 8:45.

Read with students for Hearthside Project

Read a book of your choice with up to three students in an informal environment as part of the Hearthside Project. How often you meet and the choice of book are up to you, though the text is strongly encouraged to relate to the key role of the humanities in contemporary thought.

Hearthside is sponsored by the Harry and Polly Slife Professorship in Humanities and the McCoy Family Distinguished Chair in Lutheran Heritage and Mission. If you would like to run a group or if you have questions, contact Dr. Zak Montgomery.

Sessions available with TIAA adviser

No matter where you are in life — just getting started or planning for retirement — a session with Richie Diaz can help you create a plan for your goals. You’ll get answers to these questions and more:

Am I invested in the right mix of investments to help meet my goals?
Am I saving enough to create the retirement income I need?
How do I take income from my retirement account once I stop working?

Diaz will be on campus in LIB 352 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 21-22. Schedule your appointment online.
