Senior Pig Roast set May 26

The Senior Pig Roast will be held for the Class of 2022 at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at Walston-Hoover Stadium. Fourth-year students should pick up their tickets by 2 p.m. Monday, May 23, from the Alumni & Parent Engagement Office, Luther Hall 136. If you can’t make it to the office in person before then, have someone else pick up your ticket. Contact the Alumni & Parent Engagement Office with questions.

Tie-dye event planned May 18
|
|
The Public Health Ambassadors and Counseling Services will hold a free tie-dye event from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 18. Stop by the lawn in front of Old Main to dye a shirt and celebrate May Term. Fifty T-shirts will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, or you can bring your own items to dye. All tie-dying materials will be provided.

May Term travelers set Amazon presentation
|
|
Students on the May Term course Amazonian Ecology and Culture II will speak about their trip to the rainforest in Peru on Tuesday, May 24, in Science Center 102. Presentations will be ongoing from 1 to 5 p.m. about the group’s research; seeing new birds, butterflies and mammals; and the ecology and culture of the native people.

Dance Marathon, ETK schedule event

|
Wartburg College Dance Marathon and ETK will host a May Term event from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, on the campus mall in front of Old Main. There will be food, games, Dance Marathon merchandise and the chance to sign up early to begin fundraising.

Volunteers needed to plant flowers
|
The Volunteer Action Center is hosting another day of service on Tuesday, May 17. Help beautify Wartburg’s campus by planting flowers and get a free T-shirt (first come, first served). Sign up for either the 10 a.m. to noon or 1 to 3 p.m shift. Please wear closed-toe shoes and select your T-shirt size. Thank you to the volunteers who helped plant trees at the last day of service. Men’s soccer sets Pizza Ranch fundraiser

|
The Wartburg men’s soccer team is having a fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at Pizza Ranch. Team members will bus tables and work the dining area. A percentage of every check plus tips will go toward the team’s August trip to Scotland and England.

Storage offered for out-of-state students
|
|
A Wartburg staff member has agreed to let out-of-state students store items in her outbuilding in Denver, Iowa. The location is approximately 15 minutes from campus, and you must provide your own transportation. Register in the Student Success Center by Friday, May 20, to reserve space. After registering, you will work with the staff member to arrange your own drop-off and pickup times. Please note that pick up in August will not be available Friday afternoons or Saturdays.

Wartburg Student Senate will host the May Term tradition of the Burgapalooza grill-out from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 19, behind the Manors. Enjoy free hot dogs, burgers, Dilly Bars, yard games, and sand volleyball. Please register in advance for planned spikeball and sand volleyball tournaments. |

Wartburg Larks schedules bake sale

The Wartburg Larks, a new student organization, will sell baked goods and paper poppies from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, in the Saemann Student Center lobby. Educational services director to speak about tech challenges
|
|
Katie Johnston, the director of educational services for the Waverly-Shell Rock School District, will speak to the American Association of University Women at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 19. Her presentation, “Waverly-Shell Rock Technology, Teaching, and Distance Learning: Insights and Challenges” will discuss the current state and challenges of education technology. The event is in Room 134 of the Science Center and is open to all. A casual social time will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Please remove bicycles when you leave campus for the end of the year. Any bikes here a week after graduation will be donated to a thrift store.

Update forwarding addresses for summer
|
If you’re graduating or working away from home this summer, update your permanent mailing address with the Business Office or fill out a forwarding address form to have your mail sent to the correct place. Remember to check any subscriptions. Not all packages can be forwarded free of charge, so double check the shipping address on new purchases. Mail forwarding starts May 31. |

Online vehicle registration started March 22 and runs through June 26. If you do not register before June 26, a late fee of $50 will be charged.

Carnival games set on Clinton lawn

The RAs from Clinton Hall and the Complex are throwing the Clinton Complex Carnival at 6 p.m. Monday, May 16, in the greenspace between the two buildings. Enjoy lawn games, water games, and an opportunity to pie your RA in the face. There will also be an ice cream bar and cotton candy.
