Day of Kindness events on Thursdayissing table ban

Student Life staff are celebrating Day of Kindness on Thursday, Nov. 11, with the events listed below around campus for students to help relieve stress.

Wartburg hosts NCAA volleyball regional games this weekend

The undefeated No. 4 Wartburg volleyball team was selected to host an eight-team regional competition of the NCAA Division III Tournament this weekend. Watch www.go-knights.net and Wartburg Athletics on social media for updates on when the Knights begin regional competition Friday, and cheer on Wartburg volleyball as the team competes for a spot in the quarterfinals next weekend in St. Louis. We need you in the stands at Levick this weekend, Knights!

Graven Award ceremony to honor the Tomsons on Mondayissing table ban

The College will honor O. Jay and Pat Tomson of Mason City with the 32nd annual Graven Award in a ceremony at 10:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, in Wartburg Chapel. Funded by the Judge Henry N. and Helen T. Graven Endowment, the annual award recognizes outstanding laypeople whose lives are nurtured and guided by a strong sense of Christian calling and who are making a significant contribution to community, church, and our society. Through their long and generous history of supporting private, liberal arts education in the Midwest, the Tomsons have invested significantly in the lives of literally thousands of students. All are invited to attend the ceremony Monday.

Ride the shuttle for Thanksgiving Break

Shuttles for the Thanksgiving holiday break will be offered to Waterloo and Cedar Rapids on Wednesday, Nov. 24, and will bring you back from those locations on Sunday, Nov. 28. Rides are available to any student. The deadline to sign up for the service is Nov. 17. Registration and information is available at www.wartburg.edu/shuttle.

2021 Saint Elizabeth Week Events

In honor of St. Elizabeth, who devoted her life to service in the 13th century, the campus community devotes a week in November to focus on service. Click here to read more about the history of St. Elizabeth and her connection to Wartburg Castle in Germany.

Thursday, Nov. 11, to Tuesday, Nov. 16
Change for a Change
Donate your loose change to make a change within our community. There will be three jars located in the Student Center, which will be donated to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, a local child advocacy center, and the Saint Elizabeth Bread Basket. Choose an organization and put in your change to make a change.

 

Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 13-14

Packaging for People in Need
Saturday, 11 a.m., Northeast Iowa Food Bank
Join the Volunteer Action Center (VAC) at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank in Waterloo to help package food for those in need. Bring friends, and let the VAC know if you need a ride.

 

Grilled Cheese Night
Sunday, 12:30-2:30 a.m., Outside the Konditorei
Stop outside the Konditorei late Saturday/early Sunday for grilled cheese sandwiches. Only $3 each! All proceeds will go to a local nonprofit.

 

Tying Blankets
Sunday, 1-3 p.m., Chapel Commons
Come tie blankets with the VAC for children in need of extra comfort. All blankets will be donated to a child advocacy center for children who have gone through a traumatic experience.

 

Monday-Tuesday, Nov. 15-16
Buy a Rose for a Friend
Continue the magic of the Saint Elizabeth roses and purchase roses for your friends for just $3 each.

 

Wednesday, Nov. 17
Saint Elizabeth Chapel Service
10:15 a.m., Wartburg Chapel
Join us for Chapel while we detail the history of Saint Elizabeth and award the Saint Elizabeth and Pastor Trachte service awards.

 

Friday, Nov. 19 (6 and 8 p.m.) and Saturday, Nov. 20 (2, 4, 6:30 p.m.)
Basketball Tournament at Levick Arena
Donate nonperishable items during the basketball tournament to help us fill the Saint Elizabeth Break Basket (campus food pantry) before break starts. Items include, but are not limited to, mac and cheese, granola bars, and canned goods.
