Students, it's almost time for Homecoming & Family Weekend! And because we haven't had a "normal" Homecoming since 2019, we wanted to give you a refresher on what to expect, where to get meals and how to get tickets to the various events. If you have questions, email the Homecoming Committee at Homecoming@wartburg.edu or stop in to the Alumni Office on the first floor of Luther Hall, under the orange awning. Expect a busy weekend with hundreds of alumni, parents and visitors on campus. Mensa will be closed or extra busy at times. Below is a list of activities and other information:

Tonight: Mensa Knight ase Kapers audition
|
Kick off Homecoming Week with Mensa Knight tonight (Oct. 5), from 5 to 7 p.m. Come with friends, win prizes, and enjoy a meal together. Students without a board plan are invited to join in the fun as well — the Alumni/Parent Relations office will pay for off-campus students’ meals this evening. It will be a Knight of Wartburg fun! Follow Wartburg Homecoming on social to learn more about the prizes and giveaways.

Spirit Contest voting ase Kapers audition
|
Please take a moment to vote for your top three spirit contest entries! The winners will be announced Thursday, Oct. 7, at the Fall Festival. Voting closes at 4 p.m. Thursday. You must select three and can only vote once.
First place receives $200; second place receives $100; and third place receives $50.

Thursday: Fall Festival/Pep Rallyase Kapers audition
|
All students are invited to the Fall Fest/Pep Rally, starting at 7 p.m. outside on Clinton Field. There will be free activities like pumpkin painting, yard games, open mic performances, photo booth and free gourmet popcorn and other snacks and beverages. The first 300 students at the Fall Fest/Pep Rally will receive a free rally towel! A free Wing Feed will be at Joe's Knight Hawk afterward.

Friday: Kastle Kapers ase Kapers audition
|
Don't miss the tradition that showcases the talents of the student body, starting at 8 p.m. in Neumann Auditorium (note: there is just ONE performance this year). Solo and group performances include a wide variety of genres, and may involve some college humor. Admission is $3 for students and $5 for adults older than college-age. You can pay admission at the door; remember to wear your mask inside the auditorium.

Friday: Career Expoase Kapers audition
|
The Career Expo helps students with post-grad plans! The event is intended for all majors and all class years as a way to make connections with real businesses, organizations, and graduate/professional schools. Some tables may even have applications with them, so dress to impress, bring a resume, and be prepared! Stop in to the Student Success Center in Saemann Student Center for resume help.

Saturday: Free HIIT Classase Kapers audition
|
Start your Saturday morning off right! All are welcome to join this fun, FREE, and fast-paced 30-minute High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) class at The W. Class will be taught by alumna Shaina Sackett-Anderegg ’06 from 9 to 9:30 a.m. in Levick Arena.

Saturday: Parade, Ren Faire & Oktoberfestase Kapers audition
|
The annual Homecoming Parade begins at 10 a.m. and starts a few blocks east of campus along Fifth Street NW, then turns and goes west along First Avenue NW, coming through campus just behind the Chapel and Bachman Fine Arts Center, and then turns north on 12th Street NW to end near The W. The Renaissance Faire starts immediately following the parade, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the campus mall, and features more than 40 vendors, including food trucks (Mensa will be open for lunch). Several student organizations have booths and fundraisers, so come out to see and support a wide variety of groups and businesses. Click here to see a list of vendors.
The Homecoming football game starts at 1:30 p.m. at Walston-Hoover Stadium, with the Knights hosting the Loras Duhawks. Students get in free at the gate with your student ID. Adult tickets for friends and family are $6.
Oktoberfest begins just after the game on the campus mall in the tents south of Old Main, about 4 p.m., and goes until 6:30 p.m. Students on a board plan must show their student ID to get their evening meal at Oktoberfest. (Reminder: Mensa is closed for Saturday evening meal! Bonus meals cannot be used for friends at Oktoberfest.) Off-board students can pay for a food-and-drinks ticket online for $20 (must purchase before 11:59 p.m. tonight, Oct. 5) or at the door for $25. Students age 21 and older must show an ID to consume alcohol. This family-friendly event will have a polka band, yard games, stein-hoisting contest (bring your own stein), and lots of fellowship of all ages.

Bach's Lunch organ lecture and recital will begin at noon Friday in Chapel Commons with a talk from guest organist Katie Houts '04, followed by a 12:30 recital in the Chapel. You may bring your own lunch, and the event is free.
The Wind Ensemble concert will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, and the Wartburg Choir concert will begin at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. It's free to attend both concerts.

Homecoming Chapel will be at 10:15 a.m. Friday in Wartburg Chapel, with alumna guest speaker the Rev. Liz Albertson '00, vice president of admissions and student services at Wartburg Theological Seminary.
The Homecoming & Family Weekend Worship service will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday in Neumann Auditorium and will feature special music from Wartburg ensembles and a message from alumna Rebecca Baird '18, pastoral intern. Alumni, families and visitors are invited to eat in Mensa for Sunday brunch, so expect a busier crowd than usual.
