Wartburg Shuttle can bring you to campus

The 2021-22 schedule is set for the Wartburg Shuttle! All students are welcome to book a seat on Monday, Aug. 30, from the following locations to arrive on campus for the start of Fall Term:

Waterloo Airport (ALO)
Waterloo bus station
Des Moines airport (DSM)
Eastern Iowa airport (CID)
Chicago O’Hare airport (ORD)
Chicago Rosemont bus station
Minneapolis airport (MSP)

See rates and schedules and book your seat by Aug. 23 at www.wartburg.edu/shuttle.

The shuttle is also available to take students to and from campus at the start and end of academic breaks; see the complete schedule at the link above. Contact shuttle@wartburg.edu with questions.

Invite students to Worth It Week, Aug. 1-6

Wartburg will roll out the orange carpet (literally!) for high school students during Worth It Week, Aug. 1-6. Encourage high school students you know to schedule a visit to experience what it's like to be a Knight! Every student who visits in person or virtually during Worth ItWeek receives a $500 award per year if they enroll at Wartburg. Share this link with details and registration.

Mail forwarding for returning students

Mail forwarding for returning students will cease Monday, Aug. 2. Packages and mail received for the month of August will remain held on campus at the Mail Center for students to pick up as they return. This is to prevent forwarding of textbooks and other shipped goods intended for campus use, and work with the average forwarding transit times. Please contact the Mail Center at mailroom@wartburg.edu with questions and concerns. Students not returning to campus should complete the mail forwarding form at this link.

Sign up for Wartburg Alert notifications

If you didn't receive the tornado warning alerts earlier in July from Wartburg Alert, you can sign up for alerts or see if your account has expired. To register your phone to receive alerts, click here, or visit www.wartburg.edu, log into the InfoCenter, select "Parking & Safety" under "Offices," and select "WartburgAlert." Then follow the instructions to create or update an account. Wartburg Alert is the college's emergency notification system. By creating an account you will be notified by text, email, or phone when an emergency arises on campus.

Advancement offices closed on Thursday

Institutional Advancement, including the Alumni & Parent Relations Office, the Marketing & Communication Office, the Development Office and the Print Center, will be closed Thursday, July 29, for a staff retreat. The Mail Center will be open with limited staffing.

College joins White House vaccine challenge

The College has accepted President Joe Biden’s invitation for colleges and universities to join him in the White House’s efforts to end the COVID-19 pandemic by encouraging vaccination for all eligible individuals.

By accepting this challenge, college administrators agree to:

Engage every student, faculty and staff member by ensuring that every member of the campus community knows they are eligible for the vaccine and has the resources to find one.
Organize the campus community by identifying champions for vaccine efforts across campus and implementing a plan to get as many members of the college community vaccinated as possible.
Deliver vaccine access to all by bringing vaccines to campus, making it easy for students, staff and faculty to get vaccinated.

Though the college is just now accepting this challenge, these priorities have been at the forefront Wartburg’s COVID-19 response since the vaccine became available. Click here to learn more.

In an email recently, Dean Dan Kittle encouraged students to become fully vaccinated before returning to campus for Fall Term. Students who are unvaccinated Sept. 1:

Will be strongly encouraged to wear a mask on campus.
Must quarantine for 7 to 10 days following contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19.
Could be required to partake in regular COVID-19 testing if college leaders deem it necessary to continue safely with campus activities because of an increase in the number of cases in the community or on campus, or because of the emergence of more troublesome variants.
