Chalk & Wire, our assessment management and student portfolio system, has recently been rebranded as Anthology Portfolio. The only change to the system is the name.

Sanctuary at 8 p.m. on Wednesday
|
During May Term, Sanctuary will begin at 8 p.m. on Wednesday night. Expect a relaxed time of Bible study, fellowship, worship band music, prayers, and communion. All are welcome! Worship begins in the Chapel sanctuary at 8, come early at 7:45 for snacks.

Milestones celebration May 28
|
Mark your calendar and plan to celebrate the many MILESTONES you and your colleagues have achieved at Wartburg College during this historic academic year. The celebration will be held on central campus in front of Old Main with a brief program at noon.

On Saturday, May 15, President Darrel Colson announced that the mask requirement on campus would be lifted; however, everyone should still carry a mask with them as some individuals on campus may still require them in their classes or in their office. In addition, all unvaccinated individuals are strongly encouraged to continue wearing a mask and distancing from others. Read the full announcement here.

Summer specialty classes at The W

The W is offering two summer specialty classes: Summer SWAT and Athlete Within.
SWAT is an outdoor class designed to make you sweat. Test your abilities being challenged by tire flips, battle ropes, sleds, and more!
Dates: June 7 to Aug. 12
Days: M/T/Th
Time: 5:15-6:15 a.m.
Cost: $75 member, $115 guests, $100 each if two or more guests register together
The Athlete Within is a strength-and-conditioning-based program that focuses heavily on learning new skills and mastering the proper technique of all barbell, kettlebell, and dumbbell lifts to build usable strength and endurance.
Dates: June 7 to Aug. 13
Days: M/T/Th/F
Time: 5-6 a.m.
Cost: $100 members, $155 guests, $140 if two or more guests register together

OER grant funding available for faculty
|
OER supports access, affordability, and student success. The IPAL OER Project Applications for fall funding for the usage or creation of OER are due June 1 (Winter/May Term funding deadline is Nov. 1). If you already use an OER in one of your fall courses and want to enhance that practice, this would be a perfect incentive to support your time on that project. Check out the Faculty Resources Guide for some helpful resources. Reach out to Aj Nolte or Barb Schultz if you have any questions or need any support!

Summer Hours: Summer is almost here! Summer hours will begin Tuesday, June 1, and continue until Friday, Aug. 20. Office hours during this time will be 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Performance Appraisals Reminder: Performance Appraisals & Self Appraisals are due by June 30. Appraisal templates can be found on the Info Center under “Forms.” Once completed and signed by all parties, please drop these forms off to the HR office. Contact HR@wartburg.edu if you have any questions.

Notice of Consumer Information for faculty and staff

The U.S. Department of Education requires institutions receiving federal funding to provide notice regarding the availability of consumer information. The information includes general college facts and statistics financial aid assistance annual security report, copyright infringement and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act policies. Faculty and staff can find the information at http://www.wartburg.edu/consumer-information/. Contact the Financial Aid Office with questions or requests for a paper copy.

A hymn tune composed by Dr. Karen Black, Rudi Inselmann Endowed Professor of Organ, was chosen from among over a thousand submissions and is included in the new Evangelical Lutheran Worship Supplement, All Creation Sings. The tune (titled Waverly) was written to a text by the Rev. Paul Hoffman, Dazzling Presence on the Mountain, appropriate especially for Transfiguration Sunday.
Wartburg faculty and staff are highlighted in the Spring 2021 issue of “Intersections,” a biannual publication by the Network of ELCA Colleges and Universities (NECU). Each issue reflects on faith, learning, and teaching with the Lutheran higher education, especially as these intersect with contemporary challenges, opportunities, and initiatives:
