Dining hours for break

Click here to see the hours for the Dining Services locations during the Thanksgiving holiday and Finals Week. The student Board Plan ends at dinner on Dec. 3. Meal transfers will be available the week of finals with special hours.

 

Food pantry hours for break

St. Elizabeth Bread Basket, the on-campus food pantry, will be open over break during the following hours:
Wednesday, Nov. 24, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. during office hours
Thursday, Nov. 26, through Sunday, Nov. 29, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. by visiting Campus Security.
SEBB will reopen Friday, Dec. 4, and remain open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday.

 

Incomplete grade information

Students, please remember to complete a Request for Incomplete Grade form if you have the consent of your instructor to postpone required course work due to extenuating circumstances. The form is not required for internships and Study Abroad course work. This form is available in the “Forms” section on My Wartburg or in the Registrar’s Office. Any incomplete grades without a completed Request for Incomplete Grade form will be changed to an F. Contact the Registrar’s Office for further information regarding the incomplete grade policy.

 

Student online book club over break (FREE book!)

Join Dr. Rachel Clark, Wartburg’s faculty in residence, for an online book club during break! Take this quick online poll to help choose the book (poll ends Nov. 28), then read a book for fun during the break. Participants will receive a FREE copy of the book (sent to wherever they are during break) and will decide the best time of day to meet. Contact Dr. Clark for your free book, and click here to join the weekly discussion online via Zoom starting Dec. 15 (Password: 358374). Follow the Faculty in Residence programming on social media by following on Facebook and Instagram.

Choose your Hearthside book for Winter Term

The Hearthside Project offers faculty and students the unique opportunity to connect outside the formality of the classroom. Students receive their books free of charge. Reading groups consist of one book leader and three students. To apply, send an email to the participating leader of the book you’re interested in discussing (listed below); groups will begin their books in Winter Term. Questions? Contact Dr. Zak Montgomery. The program was founded by the late Dr. Paula Survilla and is funded by the Slife Professorship in the Humanities and co-sponsored by the Mike and Marge McCoy Family Distinguished Chair in Lutheran Heritage and Mission.

Early bird pricing for TriByKnight triathlon

The 10th annual TriByKnight Triathlon will be May 10, 2021, and registration is now open! Register before Dec. 31 to take advantage of early bird pricing. This USAT-sanctioned sprint tri (300-yard swim, 15-mile bike race, 3.1-mile run) is perfect for those just getting started in the sport. The event, staged on the Wartburg College campus, features a time-trial pool start in the Wartburg-Waverly Sports & Wellness Center’s state-of-the-art Schuldt Natatorium. TriByKnight Triathlon also offers classes to athletes that are new to the sport of triathlon, or just want a little extra coaching to prepare for race day. Struggling with alcohol dependency? You are not alone​

Binge-drinking negatively affects students across the country at high rates, with effects such as lower grades and potential health risks. If you are struggling with alcohol or who know someone is, there are resources available to you. Counseling services are available on-campus and via Zoom for students who want help. Visit the Pathways Center for in-person counseling or call 319-352-8596 to schedule a Zoom meeting. For an off-campus substance abuse agency, please contact Pathways Behavioral Services at 319-352-1353.

Ride the Wartburg Shuttle on Jan. 17

What to do if you have COVID symptoms

If you have any symptoms or if you know that you have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, do not engage in campus activities and contact Noah Health Center at (319) 352-8436. Weekday Chapel services

All are welcome at Weekday Chapel services from 10:15 to 10:35 a.m. each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the Wartburg Chapel. Chapel time is a brief opportunity to gather with students, staff, and faculty to reflect on God and faith. Interfaith chapels will be held the last Wednesday of each month during the semester.

How to help with Holiday Shoppe

Holiday Shoppe, a Wartburg College Social Work Department tradition since 1988, joins Wartburg students and faculty with the Waverly-Shell Rock United Way, local faith organizations and area businesses to help families provide gifts for their kids during the Christmas season. The 2020 annual Holiday Shoppe is currently looking for volunteers to help during the event Dec. 4-5, as well as shopping for gifts beforehand. If interested in helping, sign up using the links below! There is also the opportunity to donate to the Holiday Shoppe. Vogel Library update

All books and other physical materials currently on loan from the library are due Tuesday, Nov. 24. Remember to return things before you leave campus to avoid overdue fees over the long break. The ground-floor book drop, located at the south entrance (near the Science Center), is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to return things. If you would like to renew existing loans or check out new items to have over break, contact Meredith.Borchardt@Wartburg.edu or call 319-352-8464 to set up a plan.

 

Vogel Library hours will change to 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Nov. 24. Please click on the gray bar along the top of the library’s website for hours through the end of the academic year. After finals the library will be open with reduced break hours on weekdays (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) through Dec. 18 and closed on weekends.

 

Mask update for The W

In response to the growing number of coronavirus cases in Bremer County, masks are now required upon entry to The W facility and when exiting on the first floor. Masks can be removed while working out as long as physical distancing of at least 6 feet can be reliably maintained.

Mail Center update for Christmas break

The Mail Center will forward mail only (no packages) during the first three weeks of December for those students who have left campus. Packages will not be forwarded over break. Please be sure to check shipping addresses of any packages or subscriptions that will be needed over the break between semesters. Mail received after Dec. 18 will be kept on campus for those students returning in January. Please contact mailroom@wartburg.edu with any questions or concerns.
