Vogel Library update

The Vogel Library has now begun circulating physical materials by appointment only between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Check our newly re-designed website for phone and email contact information to schedule your appointment. Our librarians and other staff will also continue to provide the same remote services and access that you’ve become accustomed to.

Additionally, all staff members in the Vogel building (the Library, Pathways, Counseling Services, and the Institute for Leadership Education) will be wearing masks whenever they are in shared areas of the building. Visitors to the building will also be required to wear masks in shared areas. Thank you for helping keep these areas safe for everyone.

Wartburg Store now open

The Wartburg Store has re-opened, with hours 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Customers are asked to wear face masks in the store, and hand sanitizer will be available for use. Our online store (www.WartburgStore.com) continues to be available with pick-up in-store or through the Mail Center’s locker system.

Kunihiko Terasawa, associate professor of religion, visited the Lutheran Theological Seminary of Hong Kong on May 21. Terasawa, who is a visiting scholar at Hang Seng University of Hong Kong while on sabbatical from Wartburg, met the president, vice president and several faculty members to share more about Lutheran education in the United States and Hong Kong. He also shared information about Wartburg’s partnership with Wartburg Theological Seminary to offer an accelerated path to earning Bachelor of Arts and Master of Divinity degrees. They group discussed options for collaboration between the Hong Kong seminary and students at Wartburg College and Wartburg Seminary.

The Hong Kong seminary was founded by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hong Kong, which is deeply connected with the ELCA and other Lutheran churches. The seminary has 20 full-time faculty and several degree programs. Students come from Hong Kong, Myanmar, Vietnam, Taiwan and China, among others. The school is an important theological education center for the future Christian leaders of Asia.
