Spiritual climate survey — Students will receive an email invitation March 1 to participate in the Campus Religious and Spiritual Climate Survey. Taking the survey is strongly encouraged as it will help the college learn how you feel about campus and the ways your religious and spiritual growth are supported. The online survey is designed to give students of all religious and cultural backgrounds the opportunity to express their views on how Wartburg is doing in fostering a climate of respect and cooperation, so please also encourage your friends to take the survey. Those who complete the survey will be entered into a drawing for one of a dozen $30 Amazon.com gift cards. Lunar New Year event — The Asian Student Association will celebrate the Lunar New Year during dinner in Mensa tonight, Feb. 19, 5:15-7 p.m. Asian cuisine will be served, and gifts will be given to those wearing red. For more information, email asa@wartburg.edu.
Old Main access — The south doors to Old Main are locked through Friday, Feb. 20, due to the cold. Please use the north entrance.
Film festival concludes — The final selection in the Tournées French Film Festival will be shown Wednesday, Feb. 25, 6 p.m., in Whitehouse Business Center 116. The Lovely Month of May is a French classic that reveals Parisians' thoughts on political and social matters at the end of the Algerian War in 1962. Admission to the series is free, popcorn will be served, and discussion will be provided by students in FR 275 Intro to French & Francophone Film. No knowledge of French is required to participate. Ambassador Recruitment — The Wartburg Ambassadors will be recruiting new members for the 2015-2016 school year. The application window opens Monday, Feb. 23. Look for the link on posters, social media, and in the Juice at that time. Ambassadors must have a passion for Wartburg, leadership, and service! Members of one of the largest organizations on campus, Ambassadors enjoy giving tours, hosting students overnight, and working with the Admissions and President's offices.
LGBTQ book night — Children can enjoy LGBTQ-friendly books read by Wartburg students tonight, Feb. 19, 6:30-7:30 p.m., at the Waverly Public Library. Direct questions to Cassie Hales, assistant director of residential life, at cassandra.hales@wartburg.edu.
STEM for women — A program on attracting girls and women to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields will be tonight, Feb. 19, in Science Center 134. A social starts at 6 p.m. and the program will be from 6:30 to 7:30. Speakers include Marcy Seavey, University of Northern Iowa STEM coordinator, and Stephani Keller, N.E. Iowa Regional STEM Hub associate.
Gayla Week 2015 — Join Alliance in Gayla Week 2015, themed gaY2K–Party like it's 1999! Events run through Saturday, Feb. 21. Highlights include a panel discussion today, Feb. 19, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., in the McCoy rooms of Saemann Student Center and a drag show Saturday, 7:30 p.m., in Neumann Auditorium. Phil & Lit — The Wartburg Philosophical & Literary Society will meet Friday, Feb. 20, 4 p.m., in McCoy West of Saemann Student Center. Allan Bernard, assistant professor of business administration, will speak on The Relationship between Servant Leadership Style, Information Technology Project Success, and Organizational Strategy Alignment.
Reminder from registrar — The Registrar's Office reminds all students they are required to meet with their adviser to discuss and clear their proposed schedule before registering for 2015-16 classes. (Students with two advisers need to meet with only one.) Students should verify adviser information through the "Advising" tab on their My Wartburg home page; contact the Registrar's Office at 352-8272 if your adviser information is incorrect. Only an adviser listed will be able to authorize a student for online registration.
Eco-friendly pizza party — Join the Eco Reps for pizza and discussion today, Feb. 19, 11:30 a.m, in the Hub conference room. Learn more about the Eco Reps program on campus. Please bring your own beverage. RSVP and direct questions to sustainability@wartburg.edu.
Löhe and The Residence deadline — The deadline to apply to live in Löhe Hall and The Residence is Wednesday, Feb. 25. Löhe Hall residents develop a learning project with their roommates to educate the Wartburg community. Suites are available for one, three, four, six, or eight occupants. The Residence is a service-learning community with one- or eight-person suites. Residents develop a service project to fulfill a need in the community. Wellness program deadline — The W is partnering with Waverly Health Center and Hy-Vee to provide a healthy living program beginning Thursday, Feb. 26. Register by today, Feb. 19, by calling 319-483-1361. The Compass program will meet at 5:30 p.m. at The W. The five-week program will help participants establish and maintain long-term, healthy behavior changes. It includes a personalized exercise program and nutritional guidance. There is a fee to participate.

Homecoming, Family Weekend join — Two Wartburg traditions are merging this fall. Homecoming and Family Weekend each will be Oct. 1-4. The Alumni & Parent Relations Office is excited to bring all Wartburg constituents together at once. In 2016, Homecoming and Family Weekend will be Oct. 13-16. The dates will be Oct. 19-22 in 2017. Winter and May term balances — Winter Term balances were due Feb. 10 and May Term balances are due March 10. Student balances must be below $1,000 to participate in early registration and the housing lottery for the 2015-16 academic year. Payment plan participants: If your payments are current and your remaining scheduled payments will bring your balance below $1,000, you will be able to participate. May Term travel courses must be paid in full by March 10 to avoid cancellation. If cancelled, participants will be responsible for any non-refundable charges to date as outlined on their May Term Financial Responsibility Form. Senior Chapel sign-up — Juniors, consider sharing your faith with the Wartburg community by leading a senior chapel next academic year. Sign up on the Chapel narthex bulletin board or by emailing Kathy Liddle, Chapel Office coordinator, at kathy.liddle@wartburg.edu.
Financial aid awareness — February is Financial Aid Awareness Month, and the Financial Aid Office is providing incentive for students to be aware of their financial aid package. Students who visit the Financial Aid Office, Luther Hall 212, to review their financial aid for the 2015-16 academic year will have their name placed in a drawing for one of four $25 gift certificates from the Wartburg Store. Enter by Friday, Feb. 27. Winners will be announced Monday, March 9.
Course deadline — The second seven-week courses begin Wednesday, Feb. 18. The last day to add a second seven-week course is Monday, Feb. 23. To do so, bring a signed drop/add card to the Registrar’s Office, Luther Hall 216. With questions, call the Registrar's Office at 352-8272.
New May Term course — Students looking to take a faith and religion course are encouraged to sign up for PH206 Philosophical Ethics taught by Jason Thueme for May Term 2015. TerraCycle changes — Waverly's TerraCycle program that Wartburg participates in has changed its policies. The following items are now accepted: cereal bags, granola bags and wrappers, ink cartridges, squeeze-food pouches, and drink pouches. Waverly-Shell Rock High School is looking for a community group to take over the program due to changes in what is accepted at the school. If your group is interested in this fundraising opportunity, please email jeremy.langner@wsr.k12.ia.us.
