| Faculty, do you have plans of attending a conference next semester? Are there times you have to cancel class because of an unexpected illness? In situation like these, we encourage you to utilize the “Don’t Cancel Class” program. Student Life, in collaboration with several departments on campus, can provide a variety of workshops for the class period you need to miss. These workshops are designed to provide students with valuable information and skills. You select the workshop you feel is a good fit for your class. | Advancement Office hours at end of year |
| The Advancement Office on the first floor of Luther Hall will be open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 28 and 31. Help spread the word that the southeast doors of Luther Hall (by the circle drive) will be accessible for visitors who wish to drop off year-end gifts or who need other assistance. Gifts can also be made online through our website at www.wartburg.edu/devoffice. | ‘Duck, Duck, Goose’ art gallery exhibition |
| In “Duck, Duck, Goose,” artists and collaborators Kassandra Palmer and Claire Whitehurst explore the dynamic influence of artists working independently within the same space through the use of drawings, paintings, and sculpture. An Artist Reception will be Friday, Jan. 11, 6-8 p.m. in the gallery, with a Gallery Talk at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The Waldemar A. Schmidt Art Gallery is on the first floor of Bachman Fine Arts Center and is open 9 a.m.-7 p.m. daily or by appointment. The gallery is free and open to the public. | Mail Center hours during holidays |

Below are the Mail Center hours during the holiday season:
- Dec. 17-21: Open abbreviated hours 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For holiday shipping deadlines, contact the Mail Center. Campus delivery runs will take place late morning.
- Dec. 22-Jan. 1: Closed these days. Mail and packages addressed to Wartburg College during closure will be processed and held until we reopen at 9 a.m. Jan. 2. Mail will not be forwarded to student home addresses over Christmas Break.
- Jan. 2-4: Open abbreviated hours 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Timing of campus delivery runs will be dictated by volume.

- Tuesday, Jan. 22: Peace Dialogue from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Buckmaster Room, WBC 214
Sip & Paint from 7 to 10 p.m. in the W Classrooms
Activity for the day: Make peace with someone.
- Wednesday, Jan. 23: MLK Chapel from 10:15 to 10:35 a.m. in the Chapel.

Requests sent to techline@wartburg.edu are automatically entered in our new ticketing system. Once your request is in the ticketing system, we will be better able to monitor progress and you will receive improved follow-up communication. |

| Incomplete grade information |
| Please remind students that an incomplete grade is not valid unless it is supported by a Student Request for Incomplete Grade Form. The completion of the form should be initiated by the student to confirm that the student and instructor have been in communication regarding the incomplete grade policy. The form is available on My Wartburg or in the Registrar’s Office. Any incomplete grade submitted by the instructor without support of the form will be changed to any “F.” Please refer students to the incomplete grade definition in the 2018-19 academic catalog, which can be accessed online. Incomplete grades should only be issued for students who are passing the course when final grades are due. With permission from the Registrar, instructors can complete the form for a student whose circumstances prevent them from submitting the form. |

| St. Elizabeth’s Bread Basket, on-campus food pantry |
| Student Life announces the launch of St. Elizabeth’s Bread Basket, an on-campus food pantry for students who find themselves food-insecure over college breaks. Located in Student Life, St. Elizabeth’s Bread Basket provides non-perishable food items at no cost to students who remain on campus when dining options are closed. The pantry will be open during regular office hours Dec. 17-21, and other times by contacting Security. Thanks to Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Northeast Iowa Food Bank and Dr. Tammy Faux for the generous donation of non-perishable food items. | Volunteers needed for Unified Sports Day |
| Volunteers are needed for Unified Sports Day on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 8:50 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. You will spend time with Special Olympic Athletes participating in activities such as basketball, volleyball, crafts, and more. This is a great way to give back to the community, and it’s a lot of fun! Sign-up will be in the Saemann Student Center during lunch and dinner hours Jan. 8 and Jan. 11, or through this link. The Wartburg community mourns the death of two former college employees:
Carol Bahr ’62, who retired from Wartburg in 2012 after working for 50 years as assistant bookstore manager in three bookstore locations and under six Wartburg presidents, died Dec. 10 at age 78 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. Her body was cremated, and there will be no visitation or services. Please click here to see the obituary.
Doris Ebert-Simpson, age 88, died Dec. 13 in Charles City. She worked in food service and the controller’s office at Wartburg, retiring in 1996. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly. Burial will follow in Horton Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Please click here to read the obituary.

| Posekany Literacy Awards |
| The Education Department and Education Unit faculty and students accepted into the Teacher Education Program, as well as Reading Endorsement students not admitted to the TEP, are eligible for special funding to attend the Iowa Reading Association Conference in Ames, June 25-26, 2019. Wartburg registrants may request reimbursement of expenses for registration, travel, housing, and meals, from the Institutional Advancement Office, Luthe Hall room 123.
