| Auditions for the musical “Man of La Mancha” will be held Monday, Dec. 3, 7-8 p.m., and Tuesday, Dec. 4, and Wednesday, Dec. 5, 5-6 p.m., in the Choral Hall of the FAC. Students auditioning should bring a prepared piece, preferably from music theatre. Callbacks will be held Thursday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Choral Hall. |

| Pinnacle concert: 'A Song Without Words' |
| Pinnacle will present a concert Friday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel. “A Song Without Words” aims to demonstrate music’s potential to transcend human language by showcasing choral music with no text. A freewill donation will be collected for the California Wildfire Relief Fund. |

| All students are invited to attend the Midnight Breakfast on Sunday, Dec. 9, from 11 p.m. to midnight in Mensa. Hosted by President Darrel and Christy Colson and served by faculty and staff volunteers, the breakfast is a fun Wartburg tradition that kicks off Finals Week. |

| The Wartburg Philosophical and Literary Society will hold its last Fall Term meeting at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in McCoy West of the Saemann Student Center. Dragoslava Barzut, fourth-year psychology major, will present “Cross-Cultural Comparisons of Underlying Factors in Mental Health and Treatment-Seeking Attitudes.” The second presentation will be given by Nickolas Schwake, third-year political science and business administration major. The title of his talk is “The Impact of New Voter ID Laws on Turnout in Bremer County.” |

| Recipes from Home |
| Students, faculty and staff are asked to share their favorite recipes from home to be considered for the 2019-20 Mensa menu! Recipes for entrees, salads, ethnic dishes, vegan entrees or sides and desserts can be emailed to Shelly Geweke by Friday, Jan. 31. Don’t forget to include your name and contact information for verification. Recipes chosen will be taste-tested in Mensa and the student body will vote for their favorites. Dishes that receive a “thumbs-up” will be considered for next year’s Mensa menu. |

| Humanist author to speak |
Author Chris Stedman speaks powerfully about how the Lutheran tradition intersected with his story (coming out as a teen and majoring in religion at Augsburg as part of discerning his humanist worldview). He will give a public talk titled “Faitheist: How the Lutheran Church Influenced an Atheist Activist” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, in McCaskey Lyceum. A reception (free food!) and book-signing will follow in the Castle Room. Click here to read more about Stedman’s book in a blog post by Dr. Caryn Riswold. This event is an example of how the Lutheran heritage and mission of Wartburg is expansive and inclusive. Stedman will also speak in weekday chapel on Friday, Dec 7.

The annual Wartburg-Waverly Festival of Trees will brighten the halls of the Classroom Technology Center through Dec. 12. A partnership between the college and the Waverly Chamber of Commerce, the festival is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and attracts more than 5,000 guests each year. |

| The Education Department and Education Unit faculty and students accepted into the Teacher Education Program, as well as Reading Endorsement students not admitted to the TEP, are eligible for special funding to attend the Iowa Reading Association Conference in Ames, June 25-26, 2019.
