MLK Jr. Week — Celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
with diversity-inspired activities this week. Classes will be shortened today, Jan. 19, to allow for service trip participation. A diversity fair tomorrow, Jan. 20, 5-7 p.m., in the Saemann Student Center ballrooms will highlight student groups and community organizations. Wednesday's schedule includes a chapel service featuring the Rev. Anthony Scott ’10 and a special MLK Eucharist. TriByKnight Triathlon — The TriByKnight Triathlon Saturday, May 2, will consist of an indoor 300-yard swim, 15-mile bike ride, and 5K run. Participants can compete as individuals or a relay team. Register at the main desk of The W for $45 through Saturday, Jan. 31, or $55 afterward. Registration includes a swim cap, moisture-wicking T-shirt, race goodie bag, and post-race meal and drink at The Fainting Goat. Click here for more information.
MLK Jr. Day class schedule — Today, Jan. 19, is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Wartburg alters the class schedule on this federal holiday to free students and faculty to participate in afternoon service projects. Class periods one through six will meet for 50 minutes with a 10-minute break between each. Weekday Chapel will not be held. Evening classes will meet at their regularly scheduled time. Period 1 (regularly starting at 7:45 a.m.) will be 7:45-8:35 a.m. Period 2 (9 a.m.) will be 8:45-9:35 a.m. Period 3 (10:45 a.m.) will be 9:45-10:35 a.m. Period 4 (noon) will be 10:45-11:35 a.m. Period 5 (1:15 p.m.) will be 11:45 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. Period 6 (2:30 p.m.) will be 12:45-1:35 p.m.

Drag show applications — Ready to party like it’s 1999? Alliance seeks students, faculty, and staff to perform in gaY2K, this year's drag show featuring a late 1990s/early 2000s theme, Saturday, Feb. 21, 7:30 p.m., in Neumann Auditorium. Perform solo or with friends in one of Wartburg’s most popular campus-wide events. Songs do not have to be from the late 1990s or early 2000s, though ones from that era are encouraged. However, all selections must be family-friendly.
Knightliters reunion concert — Past and current Knightliters Jazz Band members will perform Saturday, Jan. 24, 7 p.m., in Knights Ballrooms, Saemann Student Center. The free concert will feature the current group and an alumni band with members from the early ’90s through 2014. Phil and Lit — The Wartburg Philosophical and Literary Society will meet Friday, Jan. 23, 4 p.m., in McCoy West, Saemann Student Center. Dr. Matthew Zart, assistant professor of chemistry, will speak on Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry at Wartburg College.
Sustainability survey — Complete a short, confidential survey that will measure sustainability awareness and knowledge on campus. The deadline is today, Jan. 19. Participants can enter a drawing for one of three solar phone chargers or a $50 gift card to The Wartburg Store.
