The Vagina Monologues 
The Wartburg College V-Day Campaign is sponsoring benefit performances of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 8 and 9, at 7:30 p.m., in McCaskey Lyceum. Tickets will be $5 at the door. The Vagina Monologues dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage, and excitement buried within women’s experiences. Proceeds will be donated to Cedar Valley Friends of the Family. V-Day is a globally organized response against violence toward women and girls. The Wartburg College V-Day Campaign hosts V-Week Feb. 4-10 to raise money and awareness of V-Day's mission. Other events include a silent auction in the Lyceum lobby Feb. 5-9 and an exhibit of the V-Day photo series, which is on display on the second floor of Luther Hall.

Student Senate election changes 
Dates for Student Senate elections have changed and are listed below. There are three candidates for president and vice president, so there will be two debates and two elections.
  • Debate with all candidates: Monday, Feb. 12, 6:30 p.m., in Buckmaster (WBC 214)
  • Primary election for president/vice president: Tuesday, Feb. 13
  • Run-off debate for president/vice president: Thursday, Feb. 15, 7 p.m., in Buckmaster
  • Final elections: Tuesday, Feb. 20.

Ballots will be sent to all students via email on the day of the elections. For more information, click here

SAFE Cookies for Kindness 
Looking for a way to show someone you appreciate them? Stop by the Student Center and visit the SAFE table labeled “Cookies for Kindness” to buy and send a cookie gram to anyone with an on-campus mailbox. Cookie grams are $1 each and will be delivered Wednesday, Feb. 14; payment is due at the time of order. SAFE will be taking orders Monday through Thursday, 5-7 p.m., and Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., beginning today. Direct questions to safe@wartburg.edu.
ASA valentine surprise 
Asian Student Association is offering a way to show love to your friends. On Wednesday, Feb. 14, ASA will deliver cupcakes and valentine cards to those with on-campus mailboxes. The cost is $5; click here to place your order. Friday, Feb. 9, is the last day to order, and payment is due by Saturday, Feb. 10. Pay online when ordering or pay in cash in The Hub 4-6 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 8-10.
Tour Week service trips

American Heart Association "red-out" games
On Saturday, Feb. 10, Wartburg's Tower Agency will hold a "red out" in support of the American Heart Association at both the women's and men's home basketball games in Levick Arena. Shirts are being sold during lunch in the Student Center on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for $10 each; shirts will also be sold at the games.
Math, Computer Science & Physics Department Seminar 
The next Math, Computer Science & Physics Department Seminar will be Tuesday, Feb. 6, 11:30 a.m., Science Center 134. Dr. John Zelle, professor of computer science, will discuss artificial intelligence and the theoretical limits of computers in a presentation titled I'm Sorry, Dave, I'm Afraid I Can't Do That. All are invited. Refreshments will be served.
Leadership and Service Award nominations
Leadership and Service Award nomination forms are available and due by Friday, Feb. 9. Click here to nominate someone you know for one or more of the following awards: Nobility Award; Debbie Heida Award; Outstanding Organization; Outstanding International Senior; Dell Awards for Peace and Justice; Dell Awards for Peace and Justice: Peacemaker; Outstanding Organization Service Award; Outstanding Organization Adviser Award; and Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Phil & Lit Society
The next meeting of the Wartburg Philosophical and Literary Society will be Friday, Feb. 9, 4 p.m., in McCoy West. The speaker will be Dr. Paula Survilla, professor of music. The title of her talk is Migration, the Persistence of Memory, and the Formation of Identity.
Ash Wednesday class schedule
The class schedule changes to provide time for worship on Feb. 14, 10 to 10:50 a.m. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to Ash Wednesday worship with the Imposition of Ashes, Holy Communion, music by the Wartburg Choir, and a message by Pastor Ramona Bouzard. The schedule for the morning of Feb. 14 is as follows: 9 a.m. classes dismiss at 9:50 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. classes begin at 11:00 a.m. Campus offices, including the Den and Konditorei, will close from 9:50 to 11 a.m.
Love to Color contest at Wartburg Store
The Wartburg Store is hosting a coloring contest through Wednesday, Feb. 28. Pick up a coloring page, complete and return to the store to receive a coupon for 20 percent off one item. Coloring pages will be on display in the store window all month long. A winner, chosen March 1, will receive a hammered metal travel mug worth $26.

Wartburg CHATS 
Join Dean Dan Kittle for Wartburg CHATS on Tuesday, Feb. 6, noon-12:45 p.m., in the McCoy rooms. Karen Thalacker, Wartburg’s chief compliance officer for Title IX, will be the special guest. Off-Campus Release applications
Off-Campus Release applications are available in the Student Life Office. Students desiring to live off campus for the 2018-19 academic year must apply for approval from the Residential Life Office. Applications must be submitted by Monday, Feb. 19, at 4 p.m.
Valentine cookies 
You can order a giant heart-shaped cookie for your sweetheart through GET online ordering (order through the Catering Take Out store), now through Wednesday, Feb. 14. They will be available for pick up in the Den. The cookies can be decorated with your choice of message: “Happy Valentine’s Day,” “Be My Valentine!” “Hugs & Kisses,” or “I Love You!” If you have questions or would like to add a personal message, call the dining office, 319-352-8303.
BIG Dream Gathering
Have you ever wanted to do something but weren’t sure of the first step to take? Doing something new can bring out all kinds of insecurities, doubts, and questions. The BIG Dream Gathering, Tuesday, Feb. 20, 6:15-8 p.m., in the ballrooms (come for all or part of the event), will be a fun and inspiring event that will help you get clear on your dreams and goals, and give you the boost you need to make them a reality. The keynote speaker will be BDG’s co-founder, Mitch Matthews, and the first people to arrive will receive a FREE copy of his best-selling book, IGNITE
Summer camp fair 
Camp representatives from across the United States will be recruiting for summer employment Wednesday, Feb. 7, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., in the NW Foyer of Saemann Student Center. The fair is open to all students; no registration needed. A list of camps that will be attending is posted on E-Cal.
Participate in a study of bilinguals 
Did you grow up part or all of your life in the United States (before college) and speak more than one language at home? You are invited to participate in a research project that explores the ways that dual language learners’ linguistic and cultural identity development is impacted by family, community, and educational experiences. Your participation involves just one interview that will take approximately one hour, in a location of your choosing, at a time that works for you. SPIRITUAL LIFE & CAMPUS MINISTRY
 
Upcoming Chapel services
Weekday services are from 10:15 to 10:35 a.m. each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in Wartburg Chapel; Sunday services begin at 10:30 a.m. Chapel time is a brief opportunity to gather with students, staff, and faculty to reflect on God and faith. Interfaith chapels will be held the last Wednesday of each month during the semester. 
Lenten Chapels on Wednesdays 
During the Wednesdays of Lent (Feb. 21 to March 28), college administrative offices, as well as the Den and the Konditorei, will close during Wednesday Weekday chapel time, 10:15 to 10:35 a.m. (The W, Zesty Orange, Security Office, Information Desk, and Mensa will remain open). This provides time for faculty, staff, and students to participate in the Lenten chapels or take a break from meetings, lessons, and daily work. Please note that food ordered through GET will be available as soon as the stores open, including board plan meal transfers.ac.
Seminary samplers 
Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago will offer three upcoming Seminary Samplers, scheduled for Feb. 24-26, March 19, and April 18. This is a time to meet current faculty and students, sit in on classes, and continue to discern how God is calling you into the world. For more information, go to www.lstc.edu/admissions.
Sanctuary on Wednesdays
Expect a relaxed time of Bible study, fellowship, worship band music, prayers, and communion. Sanctuary takes place at 9 p.m. each Wednesday evening in Chapel Commons (basement). Come by at 8:45 for snacks and conversation. This is a great way to center yourself in the midst of your busy week.

The No. 2 ranked wrestling team upset No. 1 Augsburg 21-13 in the annual Battle of the Burgs, as reported by the Waterloo-Cedar Falls CourierKWWLKWAY, and Team USA.

Stephanie Anderson Maybee ’09 is a one of the teachers being considered for the 2018 Minnesota Teacher of the Year Award, as reported by the East Side Review News.

Ian Coon '20 was featured in Waukee Living Magazine as the founder of the Iowa Student Learning Institute, a forum that helps empower high school students to speak out.
