Clinton Hall construction update — All students have now moved out of Clinton Hall, and furniture is being removed from Clinton North. The building will be turned over to Cardinal Construction, the general contractor, and subcontractors soon, and you likely will see construction workers in and around Clinton Hall at all hours. Some construction workers will live in the Complex through mid-August to reduce travel time and increase work time on the project. Beginning June 1, John Wuertz, who is retiring from Wartburg this month, will provide local day-to-day oversight of the project for CREDO, the project architect. John will have a temporary office in the basement of Old Main until the Clinton Hall project is completed. Questions related to the Clinton Hall construction project can be directed to John at john.wuertz@wartburg.edu. After May 31, if you have questions related to Operations and Maintenance that do not pertain to the Clinton Hall construction project, please contact Scott Sharar or Keith Strand.

SOAR Day — The next SOAR Day will be Monday, June 6. The Parent & Alumni Office will host a Parent Reception in the Castle Room from 2:15 to 4:30 p.m. Faculty and staff are invited to stop by and talk with the parents about their departments and all that Wartburg has to offer. The remaining SOAR Day dates for this year are June 20 and 27.Click here for more information.

Community Builder Program volunteers on campus — On Wednesday, May 25, the college will welcome Community Builder Program volunteers to campus for a lunch to thank them for their work in this program.

DOL overtime rules — The Department of Labor has announced its final overtime rules, which take effect Dec. 1. This will impact many Wartburg employees currently paid an annual salary. The DOL made details of what will be in the rule and developed an individual fact sheet for higher education, among other sectors, and guidance for colleges and universities for paying overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act.  An individual working full time must make at least $47,476 annually and the position description must meet a Standard Duties Test to be exempted from overtime pay rules. Teaching is one exemption from this rule. Human Resources is working with the President’s Cabinet on an implementation plan, and additional information will be shared as that plan is developed.
