NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

Be green — Campus Sustainability Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4. Check out the Be Green Fair, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., in the Saemann Student Center lobby, and a movie showing, 8:30 p.m., in Grossmann 16. The fair will feature student organizations that are sustainability or environmentally oriented, as well as organic food. A representative from Black Hawk County Green AmeriCorps will display a solar car. The evening showing of the movie Renewal is open to the public. Meet members of the student organization EARTH (Environmental Activists Reaching Toward Humanity) and watch the documentary that tells eight stories about the growing religious-environmental movement.


Research opportunity 
— Lindi-K Matse, a psychology major and women’s study minor, is conducting a research project to examine forgiveness and conflict resolution in relation to relationship quality among college students. The research is being supervised by Dr. Cynthia Bane, professor of psychology. Participants must be undergraduate students, ages 18-29, currently in a romantic relationship of six months or longer. Participants may receive credit for classes if your professor so chooses and will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift card at the Wartburg Store. Apply to participate here. Phil and Lit 
— Dr. Amy Nolan, associate professor of English, will present Moving into Wonder: Kathy Acker's Post-Punk Mysticism to the Wartburg Philosophical and Literary Society, Friday, Nov. 7, in McCoy West.


FXT at The W
 — FXT combines functional fitness training designed to mimic and improve everyday movements with cross training for a full-body workout. The program also includes a week for fitness testing, measurements, and form preparation. The next session starts today, Nov. 3-Tuesday, Dec. 23, with classes Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 5:15 a.m., 6:15 a.m, and 6:15 p.m. Cost is $110 for an individual registration, $80 per person when two register together, and, new this session, $72 per person when three or more register together.


Christmas with Wartburg tickets
— Starting today, Nov. 3, students not performing in Christmas with Wartburg can obtain one $5 ticket to the performances Saturday, Dec. 6, 3 and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 7, 3 p.m., or a free ticket to the dress rehearsal Wednesday, Dec. 3, 5 p.m. The Ticket Office at the Saemann Student Center Information Desk is staffed Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., to assist you with tickets. 


Dining Services survey
 — All who dine anywhere on campus are asked to participate in this year’s Dining Services customer satisfaction survey before Tuesday, Nov. 4. Each dining location will have cards with unique identifier codes used to access the online survey. Those who complete the survey and put their contact information on the printed card will be entered in a drawing for 20 prizes.


Post-college service
 – A recruiter will be on campus Wednesday, Nov. 5 to talk to students about Young Adults in Global Mission, a one-year international service opportunity. She will visit with students from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Saemann Student Center and at a free meal from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel Commons. RSVP to Kathy Liddle, Chapel Office coordinator, at kathy.liddle@wartburg.edu.  


Holiday shop fundraiser 
— A fundraiser Tuesday, Nov. 4, will help the Department of Social Work run its Bremer County Holiday Shoppe. From 5 to 8 p.m. diners at The Fainting Goat can have 15 percent of their bill go toward the Holiday Shoppe by mentioning the fundraiser.


PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS
Student teaching meetings — The Department of Education will hold meetings for students scheduled to student teach during the 2015-16 academic year. Two meetings will be held in Old Main 200; attendance at one is required. The meetings are Tuesday, Nov. 11, 11:30 a.m., and Wednesday, Nov. 12, 5 p.m. The student teaching application process will be discussed.


Check your vehicle 
— The Waverly Police Department is investigating several thefts and holding recovered property. If items were taken from your vehicle while parked on campus or elsewhere in Waverly Tuesday, Oct. 21 or Wednesday, Oct. 22, call the Police Department at 352-5400 or Campus Security at 352-8372.


Studio manager sought
– The Department of Journalism & Communication seeks a student manager for Your Sound Studio. The newly renovated recording studio is student run and engineered, with the capability of recording full bands and acts of all varieties. The student manager will be expected to help guide and fulfill the vision of the studio, manage recording schedules, handle financial endeavors, etc. For more information or to schedule an interview, contact Penni Pier, communication arts professor, at penni.pier@wartburg.edu.


Martial arts courses 
– The W offers two ongoing martial arts courses with reduced rates for Wartburg students. Shinkyudo karate class meets Monday and Thursday, 7:30-8:30 p.m., and Saturday, 9:40-11 a.m., for $15 per month. Mixed martial arts class meets Tuesday and Friday, 7:15-9 p.m., for $20 per month.
