The Juice changes delivery — As of today, Oct. 19, The Juice will be sent only on Mondays. Please keep this change in mind when submitting announcements. Kleinfeld Lecture set for Oct. 22 — Udo Michallik will present The Unifications of Germany and Europe – 25 Years After. Beginning of a New World Order? for the annual Kleinfeld Lecture in German History, Culture, and Politics Thursday, Oct. 22, 7:30 p.m., in Saemann Student Center’s McCaskey Lyceum. He will address the transformation of Europe since 1989 and its significance to the U.S. Michallik is the secretary general of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the German States. At the event, the Gerald R. Kleinfeld Chair in German History will be bestowed upon Dr. Daniel Walther, professor of history. The position is being elevated to an endowed chair through an additional $500,000 commitment by Gerald Kleinfeld as part of the Transforming Tomorrow campaign. Click here for more information.
Fundraiser with pizza — Dance Marathon is hosting an all-day fundraiser at Pizza Hut Thursday, Oct. 22. A voucher, which can be found on the organization's Facebook page, must be printed and presented when paying.
A Neumann debut — All are invited to a program unveiling Neumann Auditorium's new active acoustic system today, Oct. 19. The world debut of the first installation of Wenger Corporation's Transcend system will feature performances from Wartburg ensembles starting at 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be served at 5 p.m. Online reservations are requested.
Phil and Lit — Author Robert Knox will present Recreational Writing: Mystery-Trash Fiction for the Wartburg Philosophical and Literary Society Friday, Oct. 23, 4 p.m., in McCoy West of Saemann Student Center. Hospice and Palliative Care course — SW 250-20, Current Topics in Social Work Practice: Hospice and Palliative Care, will be offered Mondays, 6:30-9:30 p.m., during the second seven weeks of the term. Topics will include understanding of hospice and palliative care philosophy and how that differs from the traditional medical model; hospice intake, social work assessments, and care planning methods; the role of spiritual care in the provision of hospice services; and bereavement support as a part of hospice aftercare and community bereavement network. Keep on Learning — The musical legacy of the Wartburg Castle will be the highlight of a special Keep on Learning community education class Thursday, Oct. 29. Mike Sherer will examine the significance of the castle’s Great Hall in music, art, and poetry while discussing Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s art collection, Meistersinger competitions at the castle, and Martin Luther’s translation of the Bible. The first class of each session is free; a $30 fee due at the second class covers the rest of the session. For more information, click here.

The Castle submissions call — Submit art, poetry, photographs, and short stories for The Castle, Wartburg's semi-annual literary magazine, through Monday, Nov. 3, at castle@wartburg.edu. Three submissions will be accepted per person, per term.
#LargeEvent15 rescheduled — Andy Grammer and Aaron Carter will perform at Wartburg Saturday, Jan. 9. Entertainment ToKnight's rescheduled 2015 Large Event (#LargeEvent15) will begin at 8 p.m. in Neumann Auditorium. Tickets purchased for the postponed date will be accepted. Students still needing tickets can purchase them for $10 (with Wartburg ID, while quantities remain) at the Information Desk in Saemann Student Center at the following times:
- 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday through Friday, through Oct. 28
- 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Oct. 29 and Friday, Oct. 30
- 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday, Nov. 2 through Friday, Dec. 11
Refunds are available through Wednesday, Oct. 28 at the Information Desk. The paper ticket must be provided. The public can purchase tickets for $20, while quantities remain, at the Ticket Office or online. Please direct questions regarding ticketing to ticket.office@wartburg.edu. Study abroad photo contest — Did you have an awesome study abroad or May Term experience that you want to share? Take part in the Study Abroad Programs Student Photo Contest! Submit a photo with a creative and descriptive title along with a 100-200 word essay describing your cross-cultural experience. Prizes will be awarded, and each photo and essay will be displayed outside The Den. Further rules and information can be found at the Study Abroad Programs Office in WBC 118 or online.
Finding your voice — Dr. Celina Peerman, an organizational psychologist with Peerman Group, will present to students Tuesday, Oct. 27, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., in Knights Ballroom of Saemann Student Center. Her presentation, Finding Your Voice in a Noisy World: Connecting Work, Vocation & Our Daily Actions, will focus on daily choices we make in communicating and working better together.
Interested in WWII? — Consider taking HI 260 History of World War II in May Term. This course includes hands-on exposure to artifacts from the conflict. Act quickly or the course may be dropped. Refund checks — Those requesting refund checks the week of Fall Break should do so by noon on Monday, Oct. 26. Checks will be available for pick up in the Business Office Wednesday, Oct. 28.
