Bach's Lunch features alumna
— Kartika Putri '10 will be the guest artist at the Bach’s Lunch organ series Friday, Oct. 2. Putri’s performance at 12:30 p.m. in Wartburg Chapel will be preceded by a noon lunch and explanation of the program in Chapel Commons. At Wartburg, Putri majored in church music and organ performance. Today, she is working toward a doctorate in organ performance at Indiana University. The program will include pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Michael Bach and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. Attendees are invited to bring a lunch or order one from the Den-Rittersaal by Wednesday, Sept. 30, by contacting Marcia Haugen, music department office coordinator, at marcia.haugen@wartburg.edu or 352-8300.

Early Alert reminder
— Faculty and staff are asked to used the Early Alert system to inform Pathways Center regarding concerns about students. Areas of concern could include academic performance, physical and mental well-being, financial situations, social networks, or anything else preventing a student from thriving. The system can be accessed under the Applications tab on InfoCenter. Responses to early alerts will be facilitated by Jette Irgens, Pathways Center assistant director for first-year experience, academic advising, and student success. Questions can be directed to Irgens at jette.irgens@wartburg.edu.

Update on retirement plan
 — As a follow-up from a notice provided in January, the college recently received affirmation from the IRS of its election of Church Plan Status for Wartburg's TIAA-CREF retirement plan. This does not change how the plan operates, but helps avoid compliance-related expenses. The college already had elected Church Plan Status and operated as such since 2012; the Board of Regents Retirement Plan Committee felt it prudent this year to obtain an IRS letter ruling.

Advance thanks — The Advancement Office offers thanks in advance for helping make Homecoming week a success and making our alumni so delighted to return to campus. Special thanks to the Dining Services and Maintenance staffs. Let’s have a great Homecoming!
