Services for Buzz Levick on May 8

The Wartburg community extends its condolences to the family and friends of Lewis "Buzz" Levick, who died Monday in Waverly at age 94. Buzz was the head men's basketball coach at Wartburg from 1965 to 1993, compiling a 510-226 record, winning 14 Iowa Conference championships (including nine consecutive from 1967-1975), and making 13 postseason tournaments. He retired in 1993 and was also professor emeritus of physical education.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Levick Arena on Saturday, May 8, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Arthur Bergren from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church & School officiating. COVID-19 protocol will be followed, and everyone attending must wear a mask. The funeral service will be live streamed through Knight Vision at this link. Burial will be at the Harlington Cemetery in Waverly with military rites. Visitation will be Friday, May 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly.

The college named Levick Arena in the Wartburg-Waverly Sports & Wellness Center (The W) in honor of Buzz. He was inducted into the Wartburg Athletics Hall of Fame in 1999, was recognized as an honorary alumnus in 2014 and was awarded the Wartburg Medal in 2019.
