Each year, Wartburg students look forward to ETK’s large event. This year, students found out before fall classes even began who this year’s attraction would be. Now, ETK is having a difficult time selling tickets.
When Wartburg’s ‘Entertainment To-Knight’ announced Seth Meyers, producer for NBC’s Saturday Night Live, was this year’s large event, some students were excited, some were disappointed, and some didn’t even know who Meyers was.
“We wanted to go with something different, because we’d had bands in the past,” said ETK’s President, Audrey Sturtz. Now, over one month after ticket booths opened, ETK is having trouble selling even half of their capacity, a completely different story than the past few years.
“Last year’s ticket sales went really well. We sold out within a few minutes of it being open to the public,” said Sturtz.
ETK is looking to sell at least 500 of their 1,200 seats. But, as of Monday, sales are at only slightly over 400. Sturtz says there is no quota to be reached in order for Meyers to come to campus.
Sturtz encourages students to watch clips of Meyers doing routines on the Internet, and thinks students will be pleasantly surprised, saying “He’s a really funny guy. We wouldn’t bring him if he wasn’t funny.”
Meyers will be performing in Neumann Auditorium on Thursday, October 22nd at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are still available at the front desk of the Saemann Student Center, as well as on ETK’s website, http://info.wartburg.edu/thecircuit/CircuitFeatures/etk/tabid/245/Default.aspx.
